Four one-legged pirates, Albin, Bonacci, Cantor and Duns, have been stranded on a deserted island. They happen to notice a ship which has been getting a fresh supply of freshwater and is now ready to set sail. Our pirates want to join this ship, but in order to do so, they estimate they have about 15 minutes to get down to the beach. They only have one wooden leg though, and only two of them can hobble along with the leg at the same time.
Albin is pretty good with the leg, and uses 1 minute to the beach. Bonacci is also rather good with the leg and uses 2 minutes. Cantor is not that proficient with the leg however, and uses 5 minutes on the walk to the beach, and Duns is even slower, using 8 minutes. Two of our pirates can, using the wooden leg for support hobble along, but the time spent on that walk is equal to that of the slowest person.
How can all four of our pirate heroes get to the beach in 15 minutes?
