you've got it.

A man that was not a man
Saw but did not see
A bird that was not a bird
Sitting on a stick that was not a stick
And hit it with a stone that was not a stone.

You are walking through a field, and you find something to eat. It doesn't have bones, and it doesn't have meat. You pick it up and put it into your pocket. You take it home and put it on a shelf, but 3 day's later it walks away. What is it?

What am I?
Analogue thermometer.

I am the ruler of shovels.
I have a wife, a son,
and ten servants to wait on me.
Who am I?

And a final one to add to the previous list. After this, I'd be forced to google for more and that would be against the spirit of this thread.

Grandfather clock.

Close enough. I was going for the mercury in a thermometer.

Sorry but no. A grandfather clock can be moved.

A wagon?

No. A wagon can quite easily be forced to return to it's birthplace.

A few more from the top of my memory.

1. With pointed fangs I sit in wait,
With piercing force I dole out fate,
Over bloodless victims proclaiming my might,
Permanently joining by my single bite.
What am I?

2. The higher I climb, the hotter I engage, I can not escape my crystal cage.
What am I?

3. Once I was with water, full of scaly fish;
but by a new decision, Fate has changed my nature:
having suffered fiery pangs,
I now gleam white, like ashes or bright snow.

4. Without tiring it toils,
carrying loads across the muddy earth.
But despite of many things it can do,
it cannot be forced to return to the place of its birth.

5. I am just two and two. I am hot. I am cold.
I am the parent of numbers that cannot be told.
I am a gift beyond measure, a matter of course.
I am given with pleasure, or taken by force.
What am I?

6. Many keys I have but usually only three locks. What am I?

7. This old one runs forever, but never moves at all. He has not lungs nor throat, but still a mighty roaring call. What is it?
1. Stapler
2. Mercury in a thermometer
3. Salt
4. River
5. A kiss
6. Keyboard
7. Waterfall?

I'll guess a waterfall?
Correct. For some reason many seem to find this difficult. Perhaps it's because not many have visited a waterfall and can't make the connection that easily.

Ah, right. Whoops.
Sorry but no. A grandfather clock can be moved.
I was under the impression that it couldn't move by itself.

Big Ben, then?

That's arguable. Waterfalls are constantly moving backwards.

There is a large green house, inside of the green house is a smaller white house, inside of the white house is a smaller red house and inside of the red house are a million tiny babies. What is it?

Well considering that they do not either run literally forever, that seems kinda like nitpicking.

Hmm...
Dan & Suzy are found on the floor, dead.
There is shattered glass & some water on the floor, but their bodies are unharmed & they did not drown.
How did they die?[/quote]

they put full fishbowls on their heads and took swings at each other's fishbowls with baseball bats and missedhorribly, eventually drowning?

A watermelon? Not sure, because it doesn't have literally millions of seed inside but that's the best I can guess.

new one: You see that there is a man with a mask on at home. From home you run to the right, take a left, take another left, and take one final left. You end up back at home and the man with the mask is still there. Who is he? and where are you?
