So mining Giant Rio Tinto has proposed a $900 million mine at Cape York, Australia. The scientists they contracted to perform an environmental assessment have discovered a new species of crab about the size of 10c (approx 24mm). This crab will be threatened should Rio Tinto continue with the mine. It is likely that the proposed mine would be rejected as the crab will likely be classified as endangered.
