RIP James Sullivan (The Rev)

For those of you who don't know, James Owen Sullivan, the drummer for Avenged Sevenfold, better known as The Rev, was found dead in his home yesterday.

This news really hit me hard, as he was one of my inspirations when I started drumming, and I loved the work he did.

I just thought I'd share this sad bit of news with the Escapist, may he rest in peace.

NOTE: I notice a lot of hate for Avenged Sevenfold on this forum, but could we please just keep it out of this one? The guys dead, take your flaming elsewhere please.

A friend told me, and I actually refused to believe him until he showed me the link.

OT: Never really had much of a liking for their music, though for what it's worth he seems to have been a very competant drummer.

If you had never heard of them and you don't care, then this thread doesn't apply to you and you don't need to post something like that. Seriously, my year 9 science/maths/rollcall teacher was named James"Jim" O'Sullivan.

Reading this is like finding out that Chris Martin isn't a kiwi/curry muncher that lives in Croydon Parke or John Howard didn't work on Halo:Combat evolved or that Robert Moran, didn't start a 19th century shipping company.

As I said to the other person who posted something similar to what you said: If you didn't care about this band/musician, then this thread doesn't apply to you. The OP was obviously a fan, so when he heard the news that one of his idols had died he decided to share that news with other fans. If you are not a fan, don't bother posting stuff like "Why the fuck should I care?" because the OP obviously isn't talking to you.

And "Why don't all these other people get threads? Do they not matter?" So make a thread about them. Do something to raise awareness about all those kids in need in all those poverty stricken countries, or all those poor homeless people freezing in the streets, but don't try and make it seem like people who respected and liked this musician shouldn't care about his death any more than the deaths of people they had never heard of.
