Sir Patrick Moore, eccentric astronomer and face - well, disembodied head - of a generation of British gamers, has died. He was 89.

GamesMaster was one of the first attempts to bring gaming to a mainstream audience, by putting it on TV in a main evening slot rather than burying it in the graveyard shift (or worse, the afternoons on CITV - SCREW YOU BAD INFLUENCE), and Patrick Moore was clearly about the most entertaining thing about it.
