Road Rash Video Needs to Turn Into a Game Right Now

This video of an updated version of Road Rash may be pretty old, but is slammin' and seems to be new to most of the Internet anyway.

Shown here is a mock-up animation video of what a current-gen version of Road Rash might look like. It'd be a lie to call this video new; apparently it was uploaded to YouTube two-and-a-half years ago, but if you haven't seen it you need to.

If this video making the rounds doesn't get someone to put this game back into production, the industry is crazy. With games like Trials HD [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/94940-Trials-HD-Dev-Stoked-For-300-000-Sales] selling like gold-plated hotcakes, something like this Road Rash remake would no doubt pick up a few dollars as well.

This video got me pretty psyched up from beginning to end. The sense of speed is amazing as the main character rips a fellow motorcyclist off of his ride, enabling a boost, and then hits a ramp to perform a huge jump. It doesn't even matter that much of the environment is untextured; there is obviously huge potential in a game like this being fleshed out and put on XBLA and PSN.

A couple of months ago, Road Rash was one of multiple classic franchises rumored to be in the works for a remake [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/93806-EA-Reviving-Classic-Bullfrog-Games], with EA filing a trademark for the title. According to Destructoid, this one is already canceled though. If this is true, let's take another look at this one EA, okay? You'll make money, I promise.

Oh man, the Nostalgia factor for this one would make me buy it in an instant!

I remember the Original Road Rash on my Sega MegaDrive, back when EA had their old logo and actually were worth a damn as a GAMES company.

I used to play it inbetween bouts of Mortal Kombat, and trying to stop Stoo and Jops from being KIA.

I remember the original so well. I would gladly fork out cash to get this in a re-gen version.

See, all they would need to do it reskin the old game - it was amazing to begin with!

Hell, just repackage the original game in a 360 case and I'll buy it!

I actually quite like the white mirrors-edge-ish look of the video, and the gameplay is awesome!

Does anyone remember the original Road Rash? The 2-D one? Well...false 3-D?

That was an awesome game, and I would gladly have a revamped version. So long as I can wrap a chain around a biker's neck and throw him from his bike.

or lock a crowbar under their helmet, and pitch them into oncoming traffic

Road Rash is one of the 3 greatest racing games of all time in my book. along with NFS:MW and Midnight Club 1

I remember Road Rash on the PC, oh, that was a fucking hell of a game.
I like this! And hell, the mockup has an almost "Mirrors' Edge" visual style going for it. Haha.
I wanted to see someone side kicking a passing cyclist off a cliff... but no.

That game also singlehandedly got me into Soundgarden, when I was about 5.
