Well my opinion of Robin Williams' body of work is mixed. I liked some of his stuff, hated some other work, mostly in between.
When it comes to celebrity gamers I have mixed opinions on the subject. Mostly I tend to feel that if a celebrity talks about gaming it's done for promotional reasons. This might not always be the case, but that is the way it seems to me. Largely because I figure if some famous person comes out as a gamer, and especially if they give their handle or whatever, they are basically asking to be swarmed by fanboys and be bugged constantly. I'd imagine most of them would remain fairly anonymous if they were gaming, and go to great lengths to do so.
Not sure what he could be promoting here though.
That said, it doesn't TOTALLY surprise me when I hear about certain kinds of celebrities gaming. I mean it makes a degree of sense if your dealing with musicians, sports guys, and some TV/Movie stars who might spent hours upon hours crammed into buses, planes, hotel rooms, and trailers while working. It makes a degree of sense when looked at logically. Being famous does not mean someone doesn't do normal things.
However, as someone who lives in the age of "viral marketing" and massive advertising budgets, I can't help but wonder if anytime a famous or attractive person in the media mentions a product or activity even offhanded if they are being paid for that endorsement.
So if some model, celebrity, pornstar says "I play game X" or even just mentions being a gamer it tends to lead to a certain amoutn of disbelief which probably isn't entirely rational.
To be entirely fair I do not see a lot wrong with the name "Zelda" since I'm pretty sure it was a regular name long before it was used in a successful video game series. Neither that or the name "Cody" really stick out as being a potential problem.
Now if he was to say name his kid "Sepiroth" or something I might have some problems.
