Hello again Escapist folk,

This may have already been made or as a fan fiction but who would love to see a Judge Dredd and RoboCop team up in movie? Not Alien vs Predator kind of movie I mean something with a good script and story.

If it has already been done in comics or mini series please let me know cause I would love to see.

I could see that done by IDW.

For a second, I almost thought this was a movie team-up. If that was the case, I'd go with it IF and ONLY IF they used the Peter Weller version from the original Robocop alongside the Karl Urban version from Dredd.

No.

Both Dredd and Robocop are characters that heavily rely on their respective settings for them to work like they do. If you take Dredd out of Mega City One, he's just an off the rails, half insane cop. If you take Robocop out of CCP controlled Detroit, he's just a weird zombie cop.

This is why I'm not thrilled about the new Robocop. I have this sinking feeling that it's just going to be 'Robot Cop generic film,' instead of 'Robocop.'

It could work if they had the Dark Judges do a mass-parallel reality mass murder thing, making RoboCop's world a parallel reality to Dredd's.

Then you would have both Dredd and RoboCop sent into the Dark Judges reality by their respective authorities in order to stop them and they team up along the way.

I have only a passing interest in both franchises, but aren't both of those characters kinda dull on their own? Don't they require other characters to play off of?

I don't see this being particularly interesting, since I don't think they'd have interesting chemistry, but I'm hardly an expert or even a fan of them.

That would make an awesome action comedy. That would be a movie I'd definitely go see in the cinema. (But it has to be Sly as Dredd)

BUT Dredd has to deal with robots constantly, including at least one attempt at robotic officers. And Dredd's not needlessly violent, he strictly follows all proper sentencing to the letter.

But you're right, new robocop is going to be balls. and so would a movie where Dredd and Robocop team up. which is sad

Didn't both of those start off as black comedies (sorta, kinda)?

But yeah, wouldn't work, Robocop is set in somewhat futuristic US, and Dredd is set in far future dystopia.

No. I'll be honest, I think Robocop is shit and don't want Judge Dredd tarnished with its shittiness (although on balance, it can't get much worse than Judge Dredd). Besides, how would it work? A buddy cop movie? With half-robot? Sounds fucking dire. I'd much rather see a Judge Dredd vs Terminator, although a straight Dredd sequel is the dream.

Both Dredd and Robocop have strong satirical elements based on the theme of the fascist cop but as time went on they both became more of the don't play by the rules cop hero thing. Robocop was set in 2030 (according to the book) and Dredd was decanted, or whatever name you use for creation of a clone, in 2066 so they are not that far apart in time. Mega-city one stretched from Quebec to Miami but over the years they wiped out huge chunks of the city and the last time I followed the strip (20 years ago) it was down to Boston to Washington
