Setting
This future is not a beautiful one. The skies red gray with clouds. Sunlight barely filters through the clouds, and when it does, it only serves to illustrate how bleak the streets have become. Homes stand caked in dust, buildings dirty and marred by lack of upkeep. Inside homes, families cower, and pollution and worse litters the streets. On the bright side, there is plenty of food to go around. The darker side, though, is that the food, along with every other resource, is allocated by the Robots. The Lords of the land, the robots maintain their oppressive regime through a monolithic spire in the middle of the city. From the top floor, a ring of red glows through the clouds. Some say, on the colder nights, you can feel the piercing of the robots looking down on you. You can't see them, but it is certain that they can see you.

Humanity's last hope lies in The Escapist, and elite group of warriors who act as a foil to the robot overlords. Although not at all numerous, The Escapist is a series of highly talented, highly influential group. Their will, and their force, will be pitted against the Robot Overlord. The glowing mote in the clouds bears down on you, how you answer that electronic eye is your imperative. All you know, is that it must be stopped.

You are an Escapist, fighting against the tyranny that is the Robot Suppressors. Either as a captive inside the Robot Cell, a slave in the Robot Construction Plant, or a free fighter on the outside of the spire, it is up to you to crush the regime of NinjOS.

Rules
You are you. You must act as yourself, and no one but yourself. Should you encounter any characters during your progress around/through the spire, you cannot affect their character in any major way (make them change position, lose an appendage, or anything equally drastic), although you may have them speak to your character, and perhaps engage in battle where they are not seriously hurt (only if the battle is in a shared area, though).

Generally speaking, your first post should show your character's attributes, skills, brief physical description, and personality description. In case someone was to need to sit behind your character, if even just for dialog. If you character would flight rather than fight, that is an important detail to note for other RPers.

Outside of that, do not begin or end any fight with another character in the area, or against another character in the same post, nor majorly hamper any other RPer's character unless a previous arrangement with that character has been worked out to that effect.

Otherwise, have fun. Let's see where this goes.

Bonus Rule #1:
This RP, since inspired by a movie idea, would be rather curious in script format. So, make all posts in script format.

Bonus Rule #2:
Any and all Robot avatars/users are allowed to join the side of the Robots or The Escapists. Perhaps having an antagonist that isn't NinjOS could be entertaining. Any players joining as a Robot will need to contact me via PMs, and authorization permitting, will be joining as a host. Please do not alter your avatar to be that of a robot. (Should you wish to join as a Robot despite not being so, please PM me so that you may be written in as a "Robot Sympathizer." I'm limiting this number to five, so get these in quickly.

None.

[sup]Footnote: This is my first hosted RP, so I may not be completely full-speed at first. Apologies for as much, but I'm familiar with the layout for RPs, so I do not think I will do too badly. Have some patience if I screw up though, unlike NinjOS, I am but human.[/sup]

That being said, let's show this get on the road.

The clouds rumble as the spire glows a bright, angry red.

NinjOS - "The humans conspire against us. I know it is true, I can sense it from their thoughts. Humans, pitiful, but persistent. My robot hoards will show them, though. They'll see that the day has no light, and that their 'resistance' shall be cut to pieces."

Labyrinth had long tired of the oppression. She wished for freedom more than for anything else. In an ammunition factory, she stands tall. Taking up a crowbar Labyrinth smashes open the head of the first robot she finds, escaping with her trusty weapon, and the computer chip memory of the robot.

Red-blooded revolution coursing through her arteries, she seeks to find the Resistance, and to join them in the great war.

Labyrinth: Heeeeereeee rebel rebel rebel... HEEEEREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE rebel rebel rebel..

She emerged, crowbar slung across her shoulder. Eyes burning with fury lift to meet his gaze, then go wide.

Labyrinth My god, are you really... The Necrowanson? I've searched the city for you. I require weapons.

Labyrinth I haven't seen anyone else. I... just left the workforce, as it were. The conditions were awful. So much for industrial relations and Occupational Health And Safety. I don't know the others. Your name was the one passed amongst us while we waited for the time to rise.

Despite her heavy boots, she moved silently to follow him. Each footstep showed an odd degree of control in her person, though her hands shook a little where they grasped the iron crowbar.

A thin, black brow cocked, she swaps her crowbar to the other hand and sticks it out to shake. The slightest inclination of her head shifts her hair forward, quickly flicked back once again. The only addition made to the worker's outfit of steel-cap boots, baggy cargo pants and loose fitted shirt is a long leather coat, very worn, and gloves.

Labyrinth Oh, well I'm Labyrinth. I guess you could call me a visionary. I've waited for this day for years. It's been too long.

The heavens glowed red on the ravaged city below as the sun shined through the crimson and black clouds that populated the sky. Down a dusty back street, a single individual walked at a brisk pace on the pavement, a clear destination in mind. His auburn hair and matching eyes nearly matched the rusty landscape, a lanky, long man wrapped in several layers of scarves, a dirty brown overcoat drenched on his shoulders. Worn blue jeans adorned his thin legs, moving quickly as his tan boots clicked on the concrete. His footsteps were audible through the air, echoing off the abandoned walls and alley ways. A slight buzz of music could be heard through two black earbuds resting in his ears.

Ares Tyr they called him. Member of the Escapists, and a high profile target for the Machines. His destination was the Resistance HQ, where he would meet his fellow Escapists, ready to recieve his orders in person. His combat skills had gained him a position as a primary frontlines leader and fighter for the resistance, and he was sure his mission would be of a violent nature as they had been in the past.

That is, if he could arrive at the HQ alive.

From the distance, an artificial voice echoed out.

NinjOS Combat Unit: Human, halt! You are to be apprehended under the orders of NinjOS. Resistance will be met with lethal force.

Ares Tyr halted in his steps and raised his head, looking straight forward.

Ares: Yeah... That's what they all say.

At that, several human sized androids lept from the roofs of the surrounding skyscrapers and debilitated buildings. They each landed with a heavy thud, crushing the paved earth beneath them, dust and cracks indicating their weight. Five in all, an extermination squad. Four stayed back as a single unit stepped forward, a red shoulder piece indicating its special leadership function. A single eye in the center of its head glowed a bright red, and scanning Ares while he stood still, facing it defiantly.

NCU: Processing subject... Ares Tyr identified. Ares Tyr, you are to submit yourself to arrest, and comply in peace. Failure to submit to arrest will end in lethal force and the termination of your life functio-

The robot's arrest warrant was ended by Ares' fist ramming through it, imploding the metal and electronics which made up the robots head. Pulling away his fist, the robotic body fell to the ground, sizziling and popping, before finally catching flame at the base of its neck. Ares then look up to the other four robots, all of which were powering themselves for combat.

Ares: This'll be fun.

The first two androids leapt forward, and swiping at him in a synchronized manner with their arms. Ares drifted backwards lightly, narrowly dodging the strikes. He then countered by leaping forward with both knees raised, slamming them into the robot's chest, knocking them back into the bodies of the other two robots. He kept his onward assault before the four androids could recover, stepping up their rigid steel legs and torsos, and then swiping a roundhouse kick across the heads of the first, connecting with the shin. Both of the robot craniums detached with ease and rolled off into the nearby gutter as the necks sizzled with electrical feedback similar to the first NCU.

Whilst the two destroyed NCUs fell to the ground, one of the remaining two leapt high over Ares' head, wrapping its strong, mechanical arms around his arms and torso. The other cocked its metal fist back and shot forth to land a heavy blow on Ares' face. Ares struggled to escape, but the mechanical vice of the NCU's arms were too tight. Opting for another strategy, Ares kicked up his legs and met head on with the force of the NCU's punch. The power pushing forth, combined with the rigid grip of the holder, caused both it and Ares to fall backwards onto the ground. The fall's momentum allowed Ares to roll against the NCU's arms and release himself.

Rolling to his feet, he looked to the still grounded NCU and dropped a long axe kick on its metallic head, crushing it, leaving only one remaining unit. The unit stood still momentarily, analyzing its surroundings before turning its back to flee.

Ares: Gonna go tell daddy NinjOS, eh? I can't be having that...

Ares picked up pursuit on the running NCU,. Its speed was great, but so was Ares'. It sprinted through the back streets, causing a great amount of metallic clunking and clinking, making all sorts of noise. Ares gained quickly and soon he was running directly behind it's back. Gritting his teeth, he leapt forth and tackled it to the floor. Getting up quickly, Ares looked to the grounded NCU and smirked.

Ares: Tag...

Ares dropped his booted foot with a stomp on the NCU's head, crushing it.

Ares: You're it.

Chortling something sadistic, she lifts her head and sniffs the breeze, the bitter metal tang of exploded electronics and burning plastic drifting through the air. Keeping one ear out for the tramp of robots, and for yet more explosions, she chews her lower lip.

Labyrinth Just follow the explosions, huh? Easy enough, I'd say we'll find someone about two blocks that way.

Labyrinth's hand flicks a finger towards the east, and with a nod to him she heads off in that direction. Once again she finds herself clutching hard to the trusty crowbar, much as a child would a comforting bear.

The first cross-road she comes to is empty, and she checks her surroundings before continuing. Her first glimpse of Ayes brought a grin to the young woman's face, and she gave a short, sharp whistle between her teeth as he passed the crate she was tucked behind. More people meant more fun, in her opinon. And there was always the chance of finding someone really worthwhile.

Laby Hey there.

The top of the Spire afforded no luxuries, but NinjOn was perfectly content to stand atop the towering building, wind whipping against his electronic back. Steam wafted lazily out of his joints as he paced across the roof. The wind, outlandishly strong as high as he was, blew the steam out over the building. NinjOn did not connect the action to any human emotion, or whatever programmed equivalent NinjOS-Mobile 3.2 had. The steam drifted over the city, what would've passed for a poetic metaphor for the robot's control over the city, instead read to NinjOn like strings of physics and probabilities. The fact that the steam would be little more than water vapor joining the clouds in 2.31 hours flashed across his visor, but otherwise left no passing thought or process in NinjOn's mind. He turned, hanging onto the Spire's roofing, and addressed the human resistance from the sky. Every speaker in the city rose to project his voice. As he spoke, the city literally rocked with his synthetic voice.

NinjOn - Humans, this is a message from The Voice of NinjOS. Tonight is the night you humans are in for a treat. Because tonight is the night that we will destroy the puny Escapists, and tomorrow morning, you will be able wake up and stand outside, free from the tyranny of the Human Resistance. Tomorrow is the day you shall stop being captives, and the day you will become among us.

The echos took seconds to reach him atop the Spire, but the speech had been delivered in full. Good, the last speech was garbled by a human interference within the Spire. That slave was drawn and quartered, 'Just like a good meatbag.' Thought NinjOn.

NinjOn: Attention Escapists. Your resistance, while admirable, is rather... ill-fated. (Short pause.) In fact, you would do best to lay down your arms and surrender yourselves. You are causing your own much suffering, and failing to accept progression. Your fear binds you in place, stagnates your evolution. You are only harming yourselves. Give up.

As his speech reached the Crescendo, an army of NCUs flooded from the Spire, spilling from all directions into the street. The marching, in-step and flawless, pleased NinjOn's circuits in only the way that cyborgs can. The humans were finished, and the robots will be in control forever.

NinjOn - And as usual, citizens of the Robot Overwatch, remember that reporting Escapists will net you extra rations on all things, including monetary compensation. Do not act to save the Resistance, it will only harm you all in the end. This is all for your benefit.

The echos quieted in the city, and the wind picked up. Steam hissed from NinjOn in time with the Spire, which also let loose a white wisp. It flowed over the city, like the wave of destruction that was surely to come.

Ares jogged over towards Necro and Labyrinthe, two friendly faces he was more than happy to see. Members of the Escapists, both, and fine examples at that.

Ares: Well. I take it NinjOS is a bit pissed...

Ares spoke as he walked, shaking hands with Necro and giving a light, patting hug to Labyrinthe. The three then turned back towards the Spire, and watched as the several NCU's marched out of the giant structure. Ares cracked his neck and smiled.

Ares: Think we can take 'em?

Ares: Yes... it would seem that way. NinjOS really rolled out the red carpet for me.

Ares spoke in response to Necro with a very obvious sarcasm, an excited smile on his face. He brought his hands to face level and flashed his bloodied knuckles across his partners' eyes. Both of their glances widened at the sight and Ares simply laughed at their response.

Ares: Nothin' says welcome like an arrest warrant with your name on it.

Ares: Hell to the no. Annoymous contact from the Escapist told me to report at HQ. So, you two want to be my travel companions?

Labyrinthe and Necro traded glances and then looked back to Ares with smiles, the both of them nodding.

NCUnit 7419 turned the corner, legs treading dirt at his metallic feet clamp the ground. Each step emits a brown puff and a hiss of white. His synthetic eyes were ill-suited for the dankness of the streets, but the NMU (NinjOS Maintenance Units) were all taken off-line by troublesome slaves in the Spire. The darkness of the evening forced NCU to use his eye-lights, despite protocol 147.2.1, stating all stealth missions should be completed without lights. The white-glow of the light danced with the dust in the street, and he caught sight of three figures in the distance. His NinjOS-Mobile 1.2 protocol immediately activated, and he began running the database for matching serials.

NCUnit - Halt! Identify yourselves by serial code, NinjOS Protocol 133.3.7!

They turned, an entirely human gesture. NCU processed that they were not android, nor even bionic-human. These were rebels. His batteries charged on his back, thrumming with powering energy, and he raised his blaster, prepared for a fight.

[sup]You have my permission to kick his robot Djibouti from here to Tjuana. Also, we need more people.[/sup]

Having been silent for much of the exchange, Labyrinth nods. Her head jerks up with she hears the hum of batteries behind her, and the very second the droid speaks, she whirls, crowbar at the ready.

Labyrinth Oh, ************...

With hate burning in her eyes, she lunges for the machine with the aim of smacking its head clean off its shoulders. Not quite so, because she winds up burying the forked end of the crowbar in the NCUnit's face, and ripping half of the computer away with a backwards jerk. She licks at her lips, groping around inside the shattered robot to steal computer memory and a number of other bits.

Laby Something tells me it's time to move.

He was short, that was a start. Yeah, he was human, although some might consider that pushing the definition a little bit. Short black hair with a small beard. Shifty eyes. His ears didn't seem quite right; they stuck out and moved too much. The man gave out that kind of aura that put most peoples' neck hair on end; he didn't seem in the slightest bit trustable. He wasn't a robot sympathiser as far as anyone knew; he seemed to have a motive against them. But a blind man could tell he'd sell his Grandmother in the blink of an eye. Well, that's not entirely true. She hadn't seen it coming, after all.

Gremlin squats on a roof nearby, watching the group. He gives a sharp whistle.

Gremlin Hey, thassa dead bot alright!

He hops forward, bouncing off debris and any jutting surface before landing nimbly on the floor, where he picks up and inspects the shattered head of the droid.

Xhumed, a hopeless techno-junkie, even going so far as to acquire bionic implants. When the robot revolution came, he felt betrayed, hurt. Now an outcast from both machine and human society (humans being distrustful due to his cyborg status), he wanders the fringes, scavenging. When he heard news that a human uprising was gestating, he began to seek out the resistance. Knowing they would not trust him, he sought away to convince them of his sincerity.

Now he had found it.

The robot stood there, gleaming. With a terrifying cry, Xhumed leapt upon it and used his augmented strength to wrench it's head off before it could stop him. It shuddered and was still. Connecting the data-port set behind his ear to a fibre-optic cable, he plugged it into the robots corresponding port. Information flooded his brain- nothing useful, just schematics, commands.
Disconnecting, he carried it's head with him, and began to march towards the nearest population centre, his one bionic eye burning red...

Echos bounced down the empty hallways, carrying servo noises and metal feet clamping down in rhythm. The robot butler, the earliest incarnation of NinjOS walked down the hallway. We it arrived at the grand chamber, it slid a robot hand over the keypad. Five near-uniform beeps opened the door with a hiss, admitting the butler with a blanket of steam. Parting the curtain of vapor, the NBU reached the grand chamber. Completely surrounded by gears, pipes, and other electronic whatsits, NBU stood. After announcing himself as NinjOS 0.27.9 BETA, NBU spoke.

NBU - gOod mOrniNg mAstEr, it iS goOd to see yOu. i hAve neWs arrIved from tHe ciTy. A t0tal oF 20,597 coMbat uNitS were deFeated Last niGHt. ThaT iS aLl, I hOpe your morNiNg was a pLeasAnt 0nE.

Duty completed, NBU returned to the hallways, walking the preprogrammed 527 steps toward his chambers, where he will collect feeds from every facet of the Spire and city in standby mode, and awaken the same time, tomorrow. News travels fast in the City, and the oldest of all the robots collected it. It was a solitary life, but one without complaints. NBU had an easy job, and that alone was the only reason he hadn't been scrapped. Had they any form human emotion, NBU felt the string of 1s and 0s that most resembled relief.

Honestly, this RP didn't do very well. I'm took a shot at it, but people don't seem to be all that interested. Here's the deal, this post is my last ditch at getting some members interested. But considering it's 3 members interacting, this one is doomed for failure if we don't get more people, or at least more action out of it. Exposition's out of the way for the most part, but we need some people to bring this to life. So, this is my last call. Either these drinks start selling like hotcakes, or I'll simply have to bow my head and close the bar. Let's keep this bar alive a little longer, though. Last call!

Thunder rumbled across the sky, and NinjOS Bio Channel, NBC, stood at the two-story red tinted window of the Spire. The robots were washing over the streets, and aside from a few isolated explosions, the army stood virtually unchecked. Granted, half of the army's spinal columns, or their Operating Systems, would explode, or shut down, or just simply melt. The spies within the Spire were gutsy as hell, rigging well-over half of the army to simply melt away. When NBC finds them, they'll have hell paid. For now, though, the quelling seemed rather... shallow. NBC turned from the window, received an entirely useless, if not protocol-defined daily report, and strode from the room. Matters were pressing, and he would like to compute the amount of spies he could root out.

The Spire, just as sentient a being as the cyborgs it housed, sighed in disgust. The sigh released a wave of steam, jutting across the landscape. It sensed, although not in any level of certainty, that one of the bio sacks on the surface had just slept with it's mother.

Rebellious Civilian, code-name "Dead Meat" - Get inside, quick!

Dead Meat hurried across the intervening space between himself, and the civilians retreating into Escapist HQ. The robots were hot on their heels, although he wasn't sure if he would attribute the aforementioned heat to HQ's autodefense turrets, or that they were mysteriously on fire. He'd heard of suicide bombers though, and wasn't too keen on meeting one up-close and flamefully. He found his pistol at his side, unleashed two rounds, and sprinted toward the gate. The civvies were in, and safe, but they'd never be able to lock the gate. He sprinted to the keypad, and took a pair of slugs to the abdomen. His stomach bled profusely, and he experienced a pain far beyond that of his previous understanding. Bleeding, most certainly dying, but determined as hell, Dead Meat used his last breath to jam down the keycode to close and lock the gate. He turned, shooting the burning robot the bird, and died cold and alone. Hopefully, despite his untimely death, the newcomers would find his corpse, and the keycode tattooed to his trigger finger.
