Robot Unicorn Attack Leaps Onto Android Tomorrow

Always, I want to be with you, and play Robot Unicorn Attack on Android with you, and live in harmony, harmony, oh love.

Adult Swim's Robot Unicorn Attack made a huge splash upon its debut last February [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/alt-escape/7166-Alt-Escape-Robot-Unicorn-Attack], taking the internet by storm. Was it the colorful visuals? Was it the simple yet addictive gameplay? Was it the soundtrack, which simply consisted of "Always" by Erasure looping over and over in the background?

Either way, the internet loved it, perhaps foreshadowing the bizarre popularity [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJbAT1wzS8U] of the new My Little Pony. Robot Unicorn Attack left the web browser to go to the iOS App Store, but we who used Android Devices were left out in the harsh, unicorn-less cold.

Until now, that is. Robot Unicorn Attack will finally hit the Android Market tomorrow for $1, a small price to live in harmony (harmony, oh love). According to Adult Swim's gaming VP Jeff Olsen, the "Christmas" and "Heavy Metal" versions of the game might follow depending on how much success the original version sees on Android.

"We've gotten a lot of requests for our games on Android," Olsen told Joystiq [http://www.joystiq.com/2011/04/18/robot-unicorn-attack-on-android-tomorrow-adult-swim-app-in-may/]. "We're starting with Robot Unicorn because we've seen the most call for it. If it performs well, we'll look at our whole catalog and bring over our other top titles."

Olsen added that Adult Swim had considered looking at downloadable platforms on consoles (presumably Xbox Live Arcade and PSN), but had no concrete plans to launch its games there at the moment.

I'm totally getting this for my Droid tomorrow. I love that game. If you need a refresher, it's still up at Adult Swim [http://games.adultswim.com/robot-unicorn-attack-twitchy-online-game.html].

Looks like anyone with crayons and paper can design games now, eh? I don't understand paying a dollar for this. But hey, God bless them for making something people want.

This is officially the best video the Escapist has ever embedded in an article.

C'mere and give me a hug!

Also I now have another argument to get an Android phone.
Damn my indecision.

See, unicorn dash existed and was awesome. But then it got taken down and replaced by a very shitty version of this game that required flash 10.1.

I factory updated my aria to froyo and couldn't root to upgrade to flash 10.1 T.T

Wow! I'm amazed you guys even remembered you have the Alt+Esc section.
We remember it quite fondly. It was always a bit more trouble to update than it was worth, sadly, so we put it on indefinite hiatus.

I agree. I say paying the makers for the advertising gotten from people visiting hte site is the only reasonable way to go. I only play RUA on facebook right now.

I sure would sooner learn hwo to program and make my own damn game before paying for this: which I'm doing. Slowly, but I"m doin it.

Best of luck to you on your endeavor! It's tough standing out in a flooded market, but I hope you find a way.

Cheers
