This is something I have been thinking about. Why exactly do a lot of people (myself included) like robots so much? Usually in any thread about robots there will be people talking about how awesome the robot is. So what exactly makes us like robots so much?

Yeah, basically, they're stronger, smarter people who have no emotions, feelings and will be your personal slaves.

Ok, to actually input here, it's simply a thing of interesting technology/weaponry. Example: How can you make a giant machine gun more awesome? Give it arms, legs, a head, torso, and a personality. BAM, kickass.

I think I'd have to agree with this one. So many people on this forum like to pander to the whole "I have a heart of cold, unfeeling metal and hate all humanity" thing. Why? I'll never figure it out.

People see them as the next large jump for the domestic and workplace, they are promised to remove hassle from your everyday life, perform the tedious or dangerous tasks you have to normally comply with and they don't complain. You possibly see them as the next step socially, as it's easier to talk to an object that won't further spread those secrets to others, and you still have that satisfaction of 'getting it off your chest'. If you want to look at it in a grand scheme, then it would be the begining of humanity actually creating an alternate sentient race, capable of interacting with our own (For whatever purpose), something that can do what we do and when it is told.

Hell, talk a certain area in life and if robotics advanced far enough, then you can theorise how they could improve it somehow, and that's why you either enjoy looking at them advance now or...

Not really dancing. You can dress robotic arms you see in assembly lines in a felt covering and call it dancing too.

I say humans still have the edge, when it comes to movements that go in sync with music. Especially if we do the "robot."

no I do beleive you mistook Cynics for angsty highschool students who wear chain pants. Im talking about people who genuinely dont like people for a reason.
