Rockstar Still Loves the PC [But Forget About Red Dead Redemption]

Rockstar Games says it still loves the PC, but don't hold your breath waiting for a mouse-and-keyboard version of Red Dead Redemption.

To be fair, Rockstar hasn't exactly hit the PC with the Klingon ritual of Discommendation. Asked & Answered [http://www.amazon.com/Grand-Theft-Auto-IV-Pc/dp/B001BNFQKO/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1317918471&sr=8-6]" session with a gently-phrased message that maybe it's time to just let it go.

"We do know that, yes, there is just one title absent from our PC release plans - that game of course being Red Dead Redemption, and of course we're well aware that some fans have been asking for it," the studio wrote. "All we can say is that whenever it is viable (technically, developmentally and business-wise) for us to release a game for PC (or any other particular platform) - we will and we usually do; unfortunately, that is just not the case 100 percent of the time for all platforms." The response goes on to suggest that PC gamers be happy with what they're getting.

Okay, so maybe the issue isn't exactly "addressed" in the firmest sense of the word. Platform viability is fine and dandy, but what does that actually mean? What makes L.A. Noire viable while Red Dead Redemption isn't? I don't get it, which is I guess the bottom line when it comes to RDR, too.

On the upside, Rockstar said that the "Chicago Piano" Machine Gun, "Chicago Lightning," "The Broderick" and "The Sharpshooter" detective suits, the "Badge Pursuit Challenge" and other DLC will all be included with the PC release of L.A. Noire, which comes out on November 8.

Damn...that's possibly the geekiest thing I've seen this week. (And you know that's a compliment)

Tell you what though Rockstar, how about you fix GTA before Volition take the entire crime sandbox genre away from you?

Because Saints Row 3 is going to annhilate the entire GTA series at the moment.

I'd buy RDR if it came out on PC.

However, I'm not going to buy a console for the sole purpose of playing RDR.

I thought most of the PC crowd has already switched over from vehicular manslaughter to medieval horseback proctology.

Rockstar loves the PC, that's why they made GTA IV one of the shittiest ports in the history of shitty ports. If you don't give a shit about the PC gaming community at the very least say so instead of masking your bullshit using PR talk.

It makes sense, but still...you're denying me literally the only one of your games I give a shit about, Rockstar.

I think that's a bit rude. They're pretty much saying "Be happy we're giving you anything at all." Whatever.

Well, to be fair, its their time and money, I think it'd be far more rude to suggest that they can't decide what to do with it.

They still love the PC my ass. They're bringing LA Noir to the PC simply because it did not meet sales expectations on the consoles.

I'll believe them when they bring RDR to the PC. I don't give a shit about LA Noir, rented it and it was boring. RDR was awesome but it would be best on the PC. RDR was the only game of theirs I ever bought.

They will port every other game of theirs to the PC except for the best one? That is straight up insulting.

I think that's preferable to eternal cocktease.

Dear Rockstar, I'm sorry but we've moved on, we had some great times together, but you've been an abusive lover. You are just another in a line that says all the sweet words that we want to hear but then you go and cheat on us and make us wait and wait for you. And when you finally come you're too tired to care and we're left disappointed. It's over Rockstar, please don't call us.

P.S. If you see Lionhead or Rocksteady tell them to please stop calling too, and they can take back their stuff, I'll leave it on the lawn.

That's a shame, I'm not even a PC gamer and I'd to see the game hit that market. Mostly because I wanted to see the mods that would make it even more stunning to look at.

I struggled to hear what Rockstar were saying...

Any chance that next time someone speaks to them please ask them to stop mumbling out of their arses?

When what they really meant was "well the game had shit sales on the console so we'll release it 8 months later on the PC but just so they don't think we're muppets we'll give them DLC with the game".

And then go on to release it around the same time as Skyrim .... good choice there Rockstar, good choice indeed.

Rockstar has shown its true colours long ago, it will happily ditch old fans to follow the money trail... wait till Rockstar realises iPhone apps are the new cash cow, the next GTA will feature special touchscreen technology and connect to a social network site so you can chat while you create a gansta city.

It no longer make PC games, but does want to keep a finger in that pie as some minor rumblings of a PC resurgance has been heard, digital markets are growing and console tech isnt ageing very gracefully...especially on a certain box.

I am getting the feeling they might just have some hidden content in red dead redemption. Something that is to annoying to remove and that they fear of being unleashed.

As much as I'd like to have installed (and play) Red Dead Redemption on my PC, I'm not that desperate to play it. I have my hands (and my hard drive) full at the moment, lots of nice things to play and that's not counting Skyrim and Guild Wars 2 yet.

I can live without Red Dead Redemption and most certainly, I can live without you, Rockstar.

Rockstar games have been lacking somewhat lately, Red Dead was good and all, but I didn't think it was good enough to play it more than once through. The same can be said for most of their games this generation. I used to play GTA3 all the time, 4 I got sick of. Not to mention that I still haven't finished LA Noir.

So to me, this wont be a big deal until they can make something that will keep my attention. And as far as Max Payne goes, it used to be Remedy, and if Rockstar kept it off PC they'd not only have a huge shit storm on their hands, but they would be ignoring the platform that made Max Payne popular in the first place.

Being GTA4, I get the feeling that shitty port was intentional, as a parody for all the shitty console ports we've had from PC games.....but I don't think that's true.

IN the end, there are so many games, and much more for the PC than the console, one good game shouldn't matter that much to PC gamers who refuse to get a console (Yet spend much more money on their PC?).
