Same as the 360 version, PS3 was victim to multiple freezes. I still think that it's bullshit they're dropping it though. I just find it as a big middle finger to everyone who is an owner though.
Really? After two years of free content not going any further because the consoles cant handle is a middle finger?
I hesitate to say it, but some of these rants smack of entitlement. Its a fairly put statement to say that GTA Online has outgrown consoles that are about 10 years old...
They do smack of entitlement. No hesitation here. Let them die. It's long overdue. Consoles used to have much shorter life spans.

Much? Not really. I mean, there's a technicality in that if you average console lifespans, you're talking significantly shorter, but that requires you include failed consoles and all sorts of other tommfoolery. I mean, NES lasted a decade--more in the markets where it was most popular. SNES was like, 8 years? Again, more in popular markets.

Not to mention, there's almost always been a strong overlap between console generations.

That would be self entitlement "entitlement" means actually being entitled to something as opposed to thinking you are entitled to it.

I'm sorry I don't mean to be a jerk but the rampant misuse of that word is one my current biggest pet peeves. I don't even have anything against your arguments.

I'll show myself out now.
Ironically, I think they're using it properly. "Entitlement" to content for a game that was purchased with advertised free content updates.

What was it that TotalBiscuit said? Games should be more entitled?

And that was about demanding a company change the ending to a game.

Also, in this case, it'd a false sense of entitlement.

Articles like this are what really upsets me about gaming communities.
It smacks of extreme self entitlement
"...i paid my $60 the devs should just be able to bypass system limitations as if by magic because i paid mah 60 bucks..."
Except from heists absolutely every last thing they have added was a bonus. They didnt have to make it and they didnt have to give it away but they did. They physically cannot update it anymore or risk ruining the game. Rockstar could have released heists and never touched the game again and they'd have still done everything they said and more. Rockstar advertised free updates, not free updates forever.
Even the next gen versions if they recieved enough updates would eventually get to the point where they would be unstable.

The chance of these games coming to next gen was always a possibility despite what rockstar said, we're not idiots, it was obvious typical business jargon. I bought the 360 version on release and played the shit out of it and then didnt touch it for over a year and bought the xbox one version and played that a fair bit too and eventually there will be a sale on steam and i will buy the PC version.

Nes 1985
Super Nintendo 1990
N64 1996
Gamecube 2001
Wii 2007
Wii U 2012

Playstation 1 1995
Playstation 2 2000
Playstation 3 2006

Xbox Original 2001
Xbox 360 2005

These are NA release dates.

At best, and on average, 5 to 7 years, leaning towards 5. PS3 and 360 are the exception, not the rule.

No. They were an advertised portion of the game. They were a selling point of the game.

Where was "equal updates for all versions" advertised? Or the next update itself? As far as I know, Heists were only thing advertised and not part of the game (and those turned out to be crap in execution)

I can't say I didn't expect a goalpost shift, but don't put words in my mouth, please.
Im sorry, i dont see any goalpost shifting here. you said something and then there was a direct reply to what you said. I too would like an answer where you saw these updates advertised or where in the advertisement it said that all versions will recieve same updates. Can you show me where the content of this patch was advertised portion of the game?

Except you have to ignore the amount of time for which each console generation was given support. Which, since I already specified that, you evidently are. At that point, it doesn't matter, since the old gen has "died" because it's been superseded by a new one. By your dates and runes, that gen is over. Just like the SNES was over in 1996, despite still receiving support for years after.

I would think that, since you're talking about letting generation of consoles die by not supporting it anymore, you would go for an apples to apples comparison.
