Rogue Galaxy problem.

So I bought Rogue Galaxy (a PS2 action-RPG by Level 5) used at a local store a while back (long enough that I can't return it), and something strange is happening. Basically, the game goes from the Sony/Level 5 logos straight to the title screen. In several videos I've seen of the game in action, there is an opening cutscene, but my game for some reason doesn't play it. Now, most of the time the game plays fine, but I have had a couple of disc read errors in the middle of lengthy cutscenes, and I'm wondering if there is a problem with my game, and if I should try to replace it.

Thoughts? Advice for fixing this, if at all possible?

I've heard PS2s have had a hard time reading dual layer discs (I believe the newer models are better at it though) and rogue galaxy (english versions) is a dual layer disc game so you may be getting read errors because your PS2 is having trouble trying to read a dual layer dvd.

If you have an old PS2 that might be the case. Some people have actually modified the game so it can fit on one single layer disc (I think they ripped out the unimportant videos like credits). If your PS2 can read burnt discs then you could try downloading it. I believe they provided tools so you can do it yourself so you don't have to download it.

Yeah, mine is a newer model. It could still be a problem, though.

Are you using a PAL or NTSC TV? That caused me some problems, It was quite a while since I played it but I think it was NTSC that worked best.
