Hello again Escapists.

Basically I was thinking about getting a Trackball mouse for my PC, because I would like to see if it could be any more precise than a standard mouse for FPS, and I don't have a great deal of space on my desk as is.

So I wanted to know has anyone out there actually used a Trackball mouse for FPS, and if so was it a better, more precise setup for you than the standard mouse?

EDIT: Shit, I meant trackball mouse! God I really am tired aren't I? Can you edit the threat title or is that permanent?

Haven't tried it myself, but a friend has a rollerball mouse, however the only games he plays are flash games/PopCap games etc. He seems to get along fine playing Bejewelled.

Does anybody have an approximate price for a (decent) rollerball mouse?

I've used both, and I much prefer my laser mouse. Dust gathers in the ball part in the ball mouse, and it makes it hard to use.

Trackballs are worse than controllers when it comes to precision. If you're having trouble aiming try messing with your sensitivity settings.

Not so much having trouble, as I do crank up the sensitivity and it's fine. But I was just intrigued by the concept of a trackball.

Trackballs are much better for precision than a normal mouse, especially when you have little space.

Well if you're just wanting to try something different then by all means go for it. You'll probably end up going back to your mouse after awhile though unless you're part of the 0.1% of people who just happen to be really attuned to a trackball.

They really take some getting used to if you haven't used them much, but seeing as how I grew up with a trackball on my 486, I'm adept with either.

However, I still wouldn't recommend one for FPS.

An optical mouse on low sensitivity with mouse acceleration on is pretty good to me.
