There was a girl I met two years ago, we hung out for a week in a random town and then I've never seen here again since. We've talked about reunions but never got around to until this Summer, when we're going to meet again via a Summer exchange program in Australia(we're both originally Canadian). I think I might love this girl, and I know she has some feelings for me.

DIscussion: Am I a fool for thinking this is going to be awesome?

Really? I mean, I don't mean to doubt you, and I'm sure that it can happen, but falling in love after just one week? I'm not convinced.

Have you talked with her since via email, phone, Facebook or instant messaging? I would have thought that even a really lovely week with someone would fade after two years if you didn't stay in contact somehow.

Are you a fool? Maybe, but I've heard that love, infatuation, romance or whatever it is, does make a fool of you. But in a good way. Go with it. Have fun while you're young.

Oh yeah, it does sound stupid without context. We've been talking on MSN,Phone,Skype and Facebook since then. I'm an idiot, but not that big of an idiot.

Well, then of course you could be in love with her. I haven't seen any strong, definite evidence that online/long-distance dating precludes stable, loving relationships. On the contrary, many people these days seem to meet and fall in love via the internet. I'm sure there are some other issues that come with the circumstances, but none that can't be overcome, I don't think.
