So for Rome I played both SPQR and Romonum Surrectus (or something like that). Of the two Surrectus was better made but I didnt like the that they made it super historicle by making all the legions be seperate units to recruit and have deifferent names, colours, and abilities. This is all well and good but I like standardization in my millitary. Makes things simple.
Second mod I played was SPQR which had basic 'non-historicle' legion infantry. However, the campaighn is buggy as hell. Within the first turn, the SPQR decided they didnt like me anymore and declared me an outlaw. In addition, one I got to the legion barracks I was not able to recruit any legion troops. So now I ask the forum for mods that arent buggy and dont replace stock legion troops with uber specific ones.

I assume you got them on TWC?

Also, it's Roma Surrectum. :p Sorry, I worked on it once so I gotta make the correction here

I would suggest Terrae Expugnandae, it was the first mod I played once I got RTW. After that, RTR gave me a good month or so of entertainment, but unless you are willing to dig in for a long and brutal campaign of a lot of micromanagement, RTR will be tiring.

EB is also a popular mod, never played it much myself put it's praise is certainly deserved.

Those are just the big mods out there, and there are so many more. Let me know if you want the full list. TWC has it, and I was charged with making it :p

Someone I actually recognize from TWC. :D

OP: Sadly I've never played Rome or Shogun, but from what I've experienced Medieval II has some of the best mods out there, such as Stainless Steel and The Third Age. I'd pick that up too if you don't already have it.

Nooooo waaaaaaaay :p

Who be you then?

Basically every mod is awesome, seeing the work guys put into it attests to that. It just comes down to personal preference.

I'm under the name hippacrocafish, I'm not exactly famous over there. :C

I recognize you because of that Amnesia:DD video you posted. :D

Anyway the mod support seems to have died with Medieval II, CA has already announced that they won't be including mod tools for Shogun II (I bought it anyway. What can I say? I love Sengoku era Japan. >_>) but dedicated modders are still pouring all their efforts into mods for Rome and Medieval II, ensuring that we'll never be without quality content even if CA starts to churn out awful games.

You mean I haven't slapped you with an infraction yet? Maybe it is time...

:p

Shogun 2 may not have modding tools released with it but the community will crack it eventually. They always do.

What mods then? There's a ton. If you haven't been to TWC yet, you should definitely look.
