Wait a second? They made the second one? I heard a little about the first at the time but this is literally the first I'm hearing about the 2nd one even exsisting. Was this a limited release thing?

It's Happening! ;) (Seriously though, Ron Paul could have saved the country if everyone opened their eyes back in the Primaries).

On another note, wont all of part 3 just be the speech? After all, I don't imagine the Randroids would like having anything in Rands magnum opus to be changed or summarized, even if not doing so would be ridiculous.

See the length of that sucker? Randroids are going to have to suck it up, there's no way the whole damn thing is going to get into the movie.

OT: I've never seen a movie get forced into theatres as hard as this one...

EDIT: I found out why the second one got released... it was released by <link=http://www.imdb.com/company/co0431646/?ref_=ttco_co_1>Atlas Productions.

It's the only film they've ever produced. >__>

Well, the second movie was far and away better than the first one, so there's a 50-50 chance the next one will make for something acceptable... which oddly reminds me of my journey through the Star Wars prequels. Honestly the movies have been something of a chore, and it's pretty obvious that these movies are being made for the purpose of saying there has finally been a film adaptation. Not sure what those who strongly disagree with the views are so worried about, the movies are bound for obscurity cause there's very little going for them. Worst thing that'll happen is that it's going to be mentioned in some nostalgia show 20 to 30 years from now as something that happened.

When will people realise that greedily is not the way to live, see collectivism is essentially, be a greedy twat. Hopefully this film fail at the box office, maybe it'll the point across.

When you fail at politics, what's the next thing you do? Fail at acting.
The correct route it to be an actor first, then a politician. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Reagan did that and both had success.

Ah yes, the best known work of Ayn Rand, who also produced delightful and enlightened nuggets like this one.

You know what's hilarious? Part 1 and 2 of this trilogy were huge flops. By the logic of their own philosophy, they really shouldn't have made a third one. Or even a second one.
Kind of like how Ayn Rand secretly took advantage of government assistance programs even as she publicly railed against them. [http://boingboing.net/2011/01/28/ayn-rand-took-govern.html] Or as some of her most devoted followers might put it when describing someone else, Ayn Rand was a "Welfare Queen".

The scary thing is that Ron's son Rand Paul (yes named after Ayn Rand apparently) is a high profile contender for the next GOP Presidential nomination.
God, I hate that woman and her philosophies. "Welfare Queen" indeed. There;s a word for people this, but I can't exactly think of it right now...

choose which one sounds best

But anyway, I'm still waiting for an objectivist to address the following:

1. Why prioritizing short-term wins and breaking the social contract leads anywhere useful, especially considering we've seen plenty of examples on how this hurts everyone including the person thinking they're getting an advantage

2. How anything can be objective when it's a subject to moral luck

3. Generational wealth. It's the right to do whatever you want with your money (leave to your kids), when it means locking out potentially more capable people from competing.

4. You guys realize that this philosophy has been hell for the planet and is actively preventing us from doing anything about it, right?

5. Why go this extreme when Anarcho-capitalism is subject to the same human factors that cause other systems to fail?

I would say that continuing to flog an idea when it's clearly failed on the market level is hypocrisy for someone advocating a Randian ideal, but as Rand herself was apparently more than a bit of a hypocrite to a Randian ideal, maybe there's a certain symmetry.

One cannot fake sincerity like that...
Alan Shore had it down. I mean, I know he's not a real person, but I'm not convinced Dr. Paul is, either. I suspect him of being a collaboration between Jim Henson and Andy Kaufman.

Err... these films are not actually preaching what she said. Yeah, they kept the "government down, the individual is good" part, but they completely ignored the "religion is slavery, family values are terrible, and sexual orientation shouldn't only be straight." They seemed to of stuck all the parts of Objectivism which will be hated by the Bible belt in a closet and pretend it doesn't exist.

I think censorship of ideals also is a big pet peeve of Objectivists as well.
I didn't say that the message was repeated verbatim and was popular verbatim. In fact, I love the fact that so many of the Rand heads in the US are also professed and devout Christians. I loved it when Paul Ryan came under fire when some Christian group or another actually called him on it and he had to about-face. I find it weird that more Rand followers didn't take that kind of shit, but hey, I can't get everything I want for Christmas.

(not to single out Christians, I just don't know of any prominent American politicians who belong to another religion and worship at the altar of Ayn. If anyone can name a Jewish or Wiccan case, that will similarly amuse me. IT's just funny hearing "Jesus" and "Ayn Rand" uttered together so frequently).

Instead, the Lizard people won their thirty second consecutive Presidential race.

Ugh. Can't this terrible book just fade into obscurity? If preaching an incredibly retarded view of economics wasn't enough, now it's going to launch the acting career of Grover Norquist.
And I'm not just talking about his tax plan...

I plan to see this movie, just like I have seen countless movies that aimed to prove a political or religious point. You troglodytes need to learn to control your emotions.

I'll leave you with a quote:

"It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it." - Aristotle
Troglodytes, man? Was that necessary?
Sure, the people overreacting here - I'm sorry Witty Name Here, but you kind of did overreact just now - need to simmer down a bit, but saying they're troglodytes isn't really needed and doesn't help carry your point across.
