Your avatar looks like a bad guy. And I completely root for him.

He is Mr. Snuffles, destroyer of all things not snuffley!

This happens to me all the damn time, but I'm having trouble thinking of many examples. I get the feeling that in Brave New World I was supposed to agree with John the Savage, but actually Huxley's "dystopia" seemed pretty damn good to me. There was also GATTACA, in which our all-natural hero just came across as an irresponsible pillock. Biggest one, though, has to be the Orks from 40K. They're generally accepted to be one of the evil races, but I genuinely believe that from a utilitarian perspective they are the good guys of the setting and have already won anyway.
When your goal is fun, you can't lose.

AND ORKS NEVER LOSES! IF WE'RE DED THEN IT DON'T COUNT!

Man, I love Orks.
Yeah, I don't like them in the games and stuff when it's trying to be serious. Orks isn't serious! ORKZ IS HAVIN A LAFF!

Still funny though.

I have a 20 month old son so I watch a lot of kids TV right now...

Fi Fi and the flower tots.

The bad guys are a wasp named stingo and a slug named slugsy. the tots have all of the commerce in their community, running the store, the landscaping, the artisans, the bakeries. All in nice houses getting on well together.

Slugsy and Stingo seem to be the only ones who have to share a home which is a run down ghetto looking shack. They have no job as the flower tots seem to have all of the gainful employment and resources and their main motivation seems to be the stealing of food, so they can eat. Those dirty bourgeois flower tots foil them every time.

I'd argue it could even be race that keeps them excluded and poor as the bee and the gooseberry don't seem to have a jobs but never go without. They are just straight up racist about wasps and slugs.

Ducktales
Id like to add the Beagle Boys from ducktales as well. Scrooge keeps all of his money in a massive vault he swims in, doesn't invest it in the community or create any jobs. The beagle boys are ex cons who cannot find work and they just want a share of the wealth Scrooge is sitting on. All power too them. It would not affect Scrooges quality of life to redistribute his wealth, through investment of charity.

I love Orkish logik.

OT: Supporting the villains is about the only way I was ever to manage to watch Dragonball Z. Well, that and liquor.

In gaming, I actually prefer the Enclave's viewpoint in Fallout 3 rather than Rivet City scientistststststs. Of course, part of that's because Three Dog is getting irritating.

Law Abiding Citizen: An excellent movie from the start, where you can have great fun guessing who will get killed next and how. As far as I'm concerned you'd have to be insane to root for the good-guy in this film; he's a bumbling idiot, only following the word of the law and not the spirit, allowing dozens of people to get killed in the process.

Excellent film...that I will never, ever watch again because of its one, fatal flaw: The ending. It was so cheesy, predictable, and unnecessary, and just typical schmaltzy shit; SHAME ON YOU HOLLYWOOD.
See, I was expecting the fatal flaw to be this weird thing called "the acting".

Also, Repo Men is such a rip off movie. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Repo!_The_Genetic_Opera] I'm amazed they weren't pulled up on it.

What!? That's Domo...he's from a Japanese kid's show...sort of...it's more of an ad type dealy.

Anyway...someone mentioned never rooting for the Nazis above...well, there was -one- instance where I can think of that being true, in Inglorious Basterds: Hans Landa.

I know...I feel bad about it, but damn, the man was just so suave!

Most recent thing I can think of is in "the Incredible Hulk" I was rooting for the abomination because he just wanted to have some fun while Bruce was being a little *****.

Douglas Shepherd, from Splinter Cell Chaos Theory. Absolutely badass, and it saddened me that I had to kill him due to his role in Pandora Tomorrow, even if his plan was literally "Cause a war and hope America comes out of it looking better."

Also, Paxton Fettel.
Yeah, he's just eating people, no need to worry.

His hallucinogenic elusiveness was something I found particularly effective in FEAR. One of the reasons I loved the game so much.

Not Palpatine preicesely, but I always rooted for the empire.
You can't blame the stormtroopers: they are paid to uphold he law and bring order to the universe, or they are clones, with their singular purpose being following orders.. If you, say, replaced Palpatine with someone who is not a complete homicidal bastardous psychopath, you would have a prospering... empire.

The Manger/Agent from Bolt, He never did anything really evil, He was always trying to further Bolt and his owners career. Then they drop him at the end for doing his job and for being objective.

WARNING: Avatar: Yes, I supported the "evil mercenary guys," mostly because I hate hippies. God, how I hate hippies, especially since the depiction of Na'vi's (literal) communion with nature is just so damned saccharine that I wanted them all to die even more. I've also never been one for that whole "white guilt" thing, because I'm part Cherokee (and it shows in my dad and grampa) and I've never seen the logic in feeling guilty for something you had nothing to do with and happened well before you were born. Not to mention that the "villains" were, to me, far more memorable and likeable, particularly the eldery general-guy with the scar on his head (I suck at names; the only names I remember from that movie are Jake Sulley and Tsu'tey, for some reason). He's like a cross between Chuck Norris, R. Lee Ermy, and everyone's favorite grampa. How could you NOT like him? All these factors led up to one of the most dissapointing moments in film I've ever experienced. I really wanted them to kill Eywa (ooh, there's another name!).
I can see what you're saying here, but I always find myself on the side of the natives in any conflict. The story in Avatar is happening all over the world and something has to be done about it! I am always against large corporations and money being the deciding factor in the future of an entire culture.

About the question you asked, in Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, I found myself wanting to be on the side of the Akrid. Their world has been invaded and they are doing everything they can to defend the balance of their eco-system. I still enjoy the game though, the boss battles are always epic.
