Rosetta Stone

Once again I need some advice from the Escapist.
Of course I'd like this advice from people that have actually used the program, but ANY advice is welcome.
I'm planning on using the Rosetta Stone for Japanese.
I need to know if Rosetta stone is a good program for learning a language.
I need pros and cons if you can give them.

I'm talking about language education software.
Not the actual stone or what have you

I think the Rosetta Stone was only really helpful for deciphering ancient Egyptian...

I did that, but the internet is always filled with lies and vile, malicious people intent on spreading such terrible things.
The ecapist is one of the only sites I trust.

I was thinking about getting it to learn Japanese and German, but when all I could find online for it were advertisments and spam, I don't think I'll be using it.

I use it for Janpense and for French, its a pretty incredible peice of software and has helped me a lot. Bear in mind Japanese is an incredably hard language to learn, most of the time you'l be saying the words but not having a clue what they mean, the pictures can be a bit vague sometimes.
