KOTOR, and Mass Effect are the musts in my book. Fallout 3 and Fable 2 to consider after that, plus Lost Oddyssey after that. I personally didn't enjoy The elder scrolls 4, Oblivion, but lots of other people did. Thats the end of my personal experience on RPG XBOX 360 games.
Ahh, fable 2. Might give that a try.
I honestly didn't like Fable 2 overly, the combat was repetitive, to the point where spamming the enemies with a level 5 Shock spell pretty much always one, that and head shots.
The story lacked depth and I didn't find myself liking or relating to any of the characters.
It's kind of like "RPG's for Beginners"
I hate repetitiveness. Thats why i hated sacred 2.
I found myself mashing x alot and then later just head shotting bosses with y over and over again, then theres shock, for some reason strongest spell in the game, pretty much one hits everything. Fable 1 had a similar spell I believe.

You've got some fair sailing ahead.

Blue Dragon: Is okay, it has no redeeming story, but the gameplay is very traditional. 8/10

Tales of Vesperia: Has only one redeeming quality. You can get together and play through story mode seamlessly with 3 other people. Not online, but it's a very fun and bonding experience.

Mass Effect: I s a good choice if you haven't played this gem of a game yet.

Fable 2: Is only good with DLC, otherwise it failed to live up to it's reputation.

That's it for worthy RPG's

Now for the other stuff

Infinite Undiscovery: Blech, not worth buying. Very bad game design, hidden-princess vanilla plot. Horrible Level design (A la Dark cloud 2) and bad voice acting. The game goes along waay to slowly, with zero pacing, and involves zero new ideas. Not fun.

Star Ocean: Is a bit of a doozy. It wasn't very good story-wise, but the game played well. just don't expect any of the characters to be deeper than baths you've taken.

Tales of Vesperia - is an excellent game, great characters, story and combat - a must buy for all RPG fans.

Infinite Undiscovery : http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.118412

Eternal Sonata : http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.117357#2218120

The Last Remnant : http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.118942

Blue Dragon : Pretty decent, but if you've already played Lost Odyssey it won't be as enjoyable.

Fable 2 : A decent game with repetitive combat and a mediocre story.

Star Ocean : I haven't played enough to comment; its not great, but not bad so far.

The RPG became my favorite genre at around the time of FF8. My main reasoning for this is that RPG's tend to be long and I can play by my lonesome while enjoying a story. The big time investment meant (sorry for the pun) that it takes quite a while for me to buy new games. If you're like me, I'd suggest you go back to the PS1 days, when most of the JRPG's with English translations were good, barring a few localization errors.
