i like RTS games only when i have a map editor to work with. i don't know, maybe playing god has something to do with it, and ive probably played more Warcraft 3 with its map editor than any other game combined.

so what RTS (or any games really) have map/level editors for PC or Xbox 360?

EDIT: For the record, i own these games:
Starcraft
Warcraft 3
Warcraft 2
Stronghold
Command and Conquer Tiberian Sun

thats it for now, but im working on my list :p

and again, it doesnt have to be an RTS, just anything with a map editor (even an FPS or Third Person Shooter, or top-down shooter)

Warcraft II. Oh man oh man, you can customise SO MUCH!

I used to like 'Fellowship' maps, making a team (mostly of peasants for Hobbits, with Elf, Magician, Soldier etc for heroes) and a map stuffed with Orcs.

Great times.

starcraft and now starcraft 2.

starcraft 2 is so awesome you can make an FPS in it's map creator (you can make actual maps too)

Heroes 2 had a great map editor... remember spending hours making maps in that game. Its a turn based game though and not RTS.

Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds and Age of Empires 2 (which it borrowed) had the best map editors I think I've ever encountered; simple (well so were the games) and comprehensive; you could pretty much work out how they worked in a day; obviously I started off with obscenely large battles that often crashed the game, but towards the end, I was making mini-stories and such. Pity I was too green to understand what they were fully capable of back then; looking back now, I probably could do more with them now.

I really wish more map-editors were user friendly and included some form of tutorial to explain how the heck they work.

Age of Empires II. Why has nobody mentioned this yet?
Agreed, it was so simple and that was what made it so good, I haven't been able to figure out any other map editors.
