So do you like rumble packs or do they just serve to rattle you controller of the arm of the chair during cut scenes?

People actually put the control down during cutscenes? Seriously?

OT: I don't really notice them in all honesty. I'd probably miss them if they stopped being used though...

I miss them. My friend had a PS3 cotroller with a rumble pack, so much more comfortable

I used to do it, then came an onslaught of QTE's. I got sick of losing those

Ohh... I just don't put the controller down. Even if I know a cutscene will be long, I'll keep a hold of the control unless something urgent comes up that I need to go take care of.

When else would I roll a fag, take a drink of tea, etc...

The extra weight is nice. My mates PS3 controller seems flimsy without it.

I drink my tea in the middle of intense gun fights. *shrugs shoulders*

I like the rumble packs though. They just make the controller feel... better. And I like it just rumbling away in my hands. >_>

I did do that at one point in time, when I played simpler games. But then I played Final Fantasy X, and couldnt be bothered holding the controller throughout some really long cutscenes. Then again, that game wasnt really urgent

Something very interesting can happen with rumble features(I'm thinking of an Xbox, a scratched copy of Indigo Prophecy, a very good friend of mine, and the best fifteen minutes during any play time ever of Indigo Prophecy), and I've always enjoyed them. I only remember there being an actual physical pack on the N64 controller that took a couple batteries and meant that you couldn't put a memory pack in there.

I like rumble packs built into controllers. Generally ignorable though.

Also, the N64 rumble pak was stupid. I didn't really like it, it became an inconvenience because some games were like "YOU NEED THE RUMBLE PAK TO PLAY THIS GAME". You only needed it in like one controller, so WHY DO YOU NEED IT IN THE FIRST PLACE?

And indeed, it meant you couldn't use memory paks, or the gameboy pak. Man n64 controller addons generally were lame I guess. Also, why aren't they called "packs"?

Probably a malformed memory of mine when I was playing wrestlemania 2000 without a rumble pak and the n64 was prompting me to use one.

Just like I couldn't save on buck bumble without a memory pak. Why? I am able to store files just fine. (sorry gone slightly off track there)

I enjoy the rumble. I played a game once that used the rumble so effectively that when i was using a friend's rumble-less controller I sucked at it cause I just couldn't get into the game. It's a fairly trivial little piece of immersion, but I find it adds quite a bit to the game that you wouldn't think about.

I grew up with it in my playstation, so yes.

Also, I remember getting a copy of Pokemon Pinball, which you had to put a AAA battery into to activate the rumble :3

Since the SNES I've only really played PC games, so with all this mouse'n'keyboarding the only vibrations I had came from deep sounds and jittery cooling fans.

Joysticks for space-sims also didn't come with rumbling back when space-sims were awesome (or indeed available :( ). My first gamepag was a cheap one to play on an SNES Emulator.

So my first rumbling experience was like 2 years ago so even now it's still kinda new to me as I still don't play a lot with a gamepad. I'm playing Darksiders right now and it's kind of odd. It doesn't really add immersion, it's just some tactile feedback. It's more akin to a hud element popping up than a real in-game addition.

Hate them. They allows mess up whatever I'm doing at the time. Or just piss me off because of the noise they make.
