Rumor: Alien: Isolation Will Feature Ripley's Daughter and Just One Alien

Why? No, fucking seriously, why? They can pull bullshit from the expanded universe to have different varieties of alien, I'm totally okay with that, just STOP FUCKING PUTTING MORE SOLDIERS THAN ALIENS IN MY GODDAMN ALIEN GAMES.

This even annoyed me in Aliens Infestation, and that was a really GOOD game.

I've given up all hope at this point. It shouldn't even be that hard, I swear to god, it shouldn't. But it seems we will never get another decent aliens game again.

As for the idea: An Amnesia type of game sounds intersecting but tbh:

A better game would drop any reference to Ripley. Have a game where we ARE the evil corp soldier who knows how to screw over the good guys in an effort to catch the alien (alive).

I really hope this is mischevious rumour-mongering because the fact that its set between Alien and Aliens and even more that it features Ripleys daughter makes it sound like a steaming pile of parasite infested hyena shit.

If is is real then i just have no words to describe whoever came up with this 'concept'

sounds like we stumbled onto some really bad fanfiction trying to pretend it's a game. I can't see this ending well. Alien and Aliens were essentially horror movies, not action flicks (well, up until the climax of Aliens when Ripley suddenly becomes a gun-toting badass who needed to know where the TRIGGER on a gun was a few hours before) and trying to do this generic shooter approach just doesn't work.

So their dragging Ripley's daughter into the WY cluster fuck and making the most of the bad guys soldiers. Did Sega learn nothing from what they and Gearbox did in ACM? I can't wait to see the inevitable and spectacular train wreck this game will be.

I really hope that the Amanda Ripley stuff is just a rumor. The Ripley family bloodline doesn't need some contrived space destiny, and the series has already been retconned to hell. The idea that she died of old age without ever getting to see her mother again was a tragic touch that I think just needs to be left alone. Unless that was just an elaborate cover story made up by Weyland-Yutani.

I could not agree with this harder if I used both hands. The need to wedge Ripley (and, to a lesser extent, Bishop) into every damned Alien tale ever really put me off the whole thing. Never bothered with Resurrection because it sounded so utterly contrived, and even though the idea of an actual Alien (as opposed to Aliens) game sounds absolutely awesome, yet another Ripley connection is just... ugh. Enough.

EDIT: Why not just go back to Obsidian's Aliens RPG? It looked awesome.

I'm not sure Sega would want to work with Obsidian again after Alpha Protocol bombed

Why don't you just make one of Ripley and making it very survival horror her vs the aliens.

While I like the idea of a fem lead ( or possible lead) the article doesn't say she is the lead for all we know we'll be playing Henry McStubble while Amanda assists him save for one level where she's playable and then it "counts". I do not like the idea its Ripley's daughter to me this is an insult you still can't make a Ripley lead game in modern releases yet you can do her daughter who does the samething but is younger?

I'd much rather see a young Newt survival horror game no weapons, sneaking, foraging, and trying to survive until the marines and Ripley show then maybe keep going as you're playing her as she's with them doing things. But if they really just can't get over the whole need guns mechanic you can go with the Newt from the comics she's an adult has vivid nightmares about being a in the colony, falls in love with a cyborg marine, and of course kills a few aliens.

Because right now just reading the whole daughter of Ripley, in a space station with clones and marines trying to kill her, and an alien on the lose and her being found translates for me that they're trying to insult Alien and Aliens movies and instead give us the load of crap fem empowerment trip that was Aliens Resurrection just change the names and make Amanda the alien hybrid baby who doesn't know she's a hybrid or a clonebrid of her mother from that station after all they had to go through several attempts before they made Ripley whose to say they didn't keep toying around till they made Amanda then go send her off to deal with the xenomorph issue as her own one teen army who will either be a crying weakling half the time or a man with breast either extreme isn't good.
