That's a pity, because I am having fun with the game. Was a bit boring playing by myself, but when I upped it to hardened and played with three other people, that was a blast. I admit though that it could be so much better. It suffers from a lack of polish--areas seems...empty and too clean, too polished--and cleanup. Aliens seem to jump around in teleporting ways, not animal-fast ways. Sigh. If only this game had been developed correctly more people would be playing it.

I have no idea what happened with this game. I mean, how do you screw up Aliens? It's, like, the ONE movie universe tailor-made towards video games! Unless, of course, you butcher the story, miss the point of the movies, and think the space marines are actually the "cool" heroes of the story who totally don't get wiped out, cry like babies, or need a civilian to bail their asses out of the fire.

It doesn't matter who made it, or the problems along the way. The fact is, Gearbox released the game. It was good enough for them to ask $60 for. There may be more people to blame than just Gearbox, but they've definitely earned a lot of it.

Everyone probably already saw this, since this massive letdown is just... sour
But I'll just leave this here

Comparison: DEMO VS FINAL PRODUCT (PC VERSION)

http://www.videogamer.com/videos/aliens_colonial_marines_what_the_hell_happened_to_aliens_colonial_marines_2.html
this is just rediculous, slightly different physics, and minor animations as they said are fine, but the fact animations actually look realistic in the demo and jerky in real life, the quality in lighting and particle effects, and the quality in textures is unbelievable

"work in progress" - we are currently making it worse

heck i still havnt played this game because despite uninstalling, reinstalling 6 times now, following all of Steam support advice i cant play this game, i get either a Missing Executable error it does boot up... and blue screens.
this would be acceptable for a computer that couldnt run it, but my pc surpasses the recommended specs.

this is just a sorry sad excuse for a game and i am currently trying to get a refund for this (steam support suddenly seams to be taking its time)

Right now, I'm starting to think that Gearbox are only at their best with a Borderlands game, because almost any other game they've released aren't half good or half-baked.
, and I've heard a lot of positive things about the Brothers in Arms series

..... If it needed more time then GIVE IT MORE TIME! You don't put out a crap game like this with such terrible practices done to try and max your profits. It would likely be more desirable to take the financial hit then to release ANY game like this, but whats worse is this is the freaking Aliens game.

I mean the Aliens Vs Predators game was a good good game. That came out like 2 years ago from Sega. And also Rebellion, which i hear does not have a good record. It was a amazing game but from what i hear from this one....... Thisis just pathetic.

I knew this wouldn't go down well as soon as I saw the first trailer. As lovely as the guys at gearbox are Aliens is not a game for them, maybe the guys at visceral or somewhere else but not Gearbox.

If this was a troll, it wouldn't be a very amusing one even for the creator so I would think this is legit.
People on the internet make shit up to get attention all the time. This could be a Gearbox apologist, someone drastically elevating their credentials and filling in details they don't actually know (QA tester who did some contract work during crunch time pretending to be a long-term developer), or, since it's reddit, someone making stuff up whole-cloth for precious internet points (gotta get them upboats).

All. Day. Long.

It doesn't seem that authentic to me. If it was to be a single developers apology to fans then it's 90% stuff that was already known or suspected and it confirmed absolutely everything that the gaming community suspected. Also it's pretty short on top of not shedding anything new. He could of told people things that only a Gear Box team member would know to try and give some credibility. Also it's kind of rushed with him saying at the end "I got to go soon so ask away" if a real Gear Box employee was going to risk getting fired and sued then he'd of at least made sure he got absolutely everything he wanted to say out. (also I wouldn't of asked for questions on the offchance a question made me accidentally somehow reveal my identity)
He does go into detail about the PS3 version being over memory, boss battles not being implemented until less than 4 months was left on the title, etc. Those are certainly things only someone involved with the project would know.
It is, but it's also not a far stretch of the imagination that they could just make those up. I mean anyone with half a brain and moderate knowledge of game development could talk convincingly about development woes. Granted what he said does sound like the sort of things that would bring about this end result. So long as they remain an anonymous person on the internet though their testimony is at best dubious. Not that anyone official will ever step up to admit fault; unless they're fired for this debacle that is.

Frankly we don't need an explanation as the end result clearly shows that somewhere the ball was dropped and no one really noticed amidst all the chaos.
