These are just RUMORS about a PROTOTYPE.

It's like Nintendo wants to go the way of Sega or something.

Buck your ideas up.
I was thinking exactly the same thing.

A good, solid, well performing problem free and extremely advanced console buried SEGA largely because it was easier for the third party developers to develop for the competition. What is this beast going to do to them?

More and more I am fearful that we may be seeing Super Mario XBox360 ports in the not too distant future. Sooner or later someone at Nintendo is going to ask the question "Hey we get most of our money from our own in house produced software, right? I mean the big known name brands that the sheep buy no matter what? Mario, Metroid, Donkey Kong, etc. So why exactly are we absorbing all of these hardware and development costs competing directly against multinational conglomerates?"

Sources suggest that the problem is the hardware built into the [cut] unique controller, which isn't doing what it's supposed to be doing.
This sounds familiar...

Well remember.. the DS originally sold for about 2x what it cost to make. I believe the production cost was $139, and it sold for $300. Even now it still selling at a profit.
The DS launched at $150 USD, not $300.

OT: I really hope this is a sign of things to come. I honestly want Nintendo to fail so freaking hard with this system that they stop and take a long hard look at how much they've let their quality slide. They, sadly, have yet to fail hard enough to realize how deep in the shitter they really are.

I was a Nintendo fanboy once, all that fanboyish enthusiasm turned to seething hatred the first time I played a Wii.

I love how people ignore that his is just a rumor and nothing more until it's proven.

01net was indeed right about some WiiU and Vita information, but that's just 2 right rumors out of thousands and thousands that they wrote about.

New 3DS, Nintendo core franchisees on other platforms, Nintendo "stealing" ideas they actually bought... and those are just somethings they wrote about Nintendo that are wrong. And they have a record of many falls rumors about other sites.

Stop talking like it's the end of the world or what ever. Those are just rumors from a site which got overconfident because they got 2 rumors right. Wow, big deal.

EDIT:
Also, unlike Sony and MS, Nintendo doesn't have another (non-gaming) branch of the company which will keep profiting even if the console fails. Unlike Sony and MS they CAN'T allow them self to lose money on every sold unit of the console. They have to profit from the release.

Did any of you guys even read what Nintendo had to do to cut the price of the 3DS by almost 50%? They don't have other parts of the company to keep them above the water if something goes wrong. That's why the big N is the only company which was earning from console sales.

Also, when was the last time one of Nintendo's consoles or controller brake? I have every console of Nintendo excluding the Virtual Boy and every single console, controller and game are working perfectly fine. I could now pull my NES the first Zelda, Mario, Donkey Kong out of the closet and it would work better than the xBox 360 at release. You can cry and hate all you want, but fact is, almost all Nintendo hardware works as intended at the release.

And even if this rumors were true, hell, it's still a prototype. What do you expect of it? To work perfectly fine and is waiting to be sold?

Yes, I'm a Nintendo fanboy, but also a PS, xBox and PC fanboy. I'm a fucking gamer who loves games no matter the platform. So don't tell me bullshit like I'm a blind fanboy who would buy anything from Nintendo just because, unlike you, I don't hate a company based on a rumor with any evidence for it, but many evidence against this rumor.

Ya know what Nintendo, screw that Wii U, get to work on a solid platform that just has a controller and works well.
Like a Gamecube 2.0
Umm...should I see irony in that statement or not?

OT: Well, that's kind of the point of a pre-release development kit; to figure out what works and make changes according to those points. It would be stupid for Nintendo to release something that doesn't function well enough to make or play games on. I'm sure it will all be fixed before Nintendo even announces a release date for the console.

EDIT: Also, this is entirely a rumor as of now, so let's all just keep that in mind.

they COULD just use a perfectly fine normal controller...
but ah who am I kidding

I will admit I am starting to miss Nintendo after having "outgrown" them like 5 years ago
BUT I do wanna go back to the game franchises I grew up with...
guess it's time to dust off the old Nintendo consoles (old LoZ and Mario games will do just fine)
