Finally, a use for all the games I bought and never play! Stupid Steam sales, tempting my wallet with their ridiculous savings.....

This, I can live with. In fact, this will probably delay me and my friends purchase of next gen consoles, because this can really help us both save some money. I tend to buy big titles on launch day in steam, but my friends PC sometimes throws some fits about this. He likes owning titles he enjoys, a lot, however he`s going to school now and is pretty much broke. So he can`t afford to take chances with a game working, or him enjoying playing it. With this, he can sample the game off me, make sure his computer doesn't light on fire, and make sure he enjoys the gameplay.
Overall this is just a great feature. I won`t be surprised if loaned titles don't work while your in offline mode, which is pretty reasonable in my book. having a warning saying "your friends playing this, booting it up will tell him its time to get off" Is such a simple way to say "One player per license at a time, please"
If this happens, oh man will I be pleased.

Now that sounds awesome. The moment I saw this on X1's list of features, I wished Steam had it.
Honestly, it sounds too good to be true. But if it happens (and it has no strings attached), I'm Valve's fan for life.

I only accept Steam and DRM under very limited conditions.
1) Cheap Games
2) Runs on Linux
3) Indie Titles
If MS, Valve, EA, Blizzard, or any other crazy outfit looking to hock DRM my way the only way I'll accept it outside of the above is.
A) Respect the Right of First Sale.

I love this. Microsoft has a great idea for its console and Valve picks it up because it is a great idea. This is actually a good evolution of gaming, that all sides are adding something new that everyone can use, whether your on console or PC.
So either this is just a coincidence in timing, given Valve talked about adding sharing features of some sort some time ago. Or, Microsofts reveal of the Xbox One has pressured Valve into shortening the release window for the feature.
Either way, I like this. As long as the feature isn't too restricted in its use, this can be virtually nothing but good.
Granted, an occasional bug can cause issues, but...for the love of God, it's so low-profile I can't fathom how it's hogging system resources on any rig.
Just glanced at my resource manager. Steam is currently doing a myriad of things. Downloading a few games. Running several chat windows, including voice chat. And a host of other things. Yet, it's utilizing a whopping 27 megs of RAM and roughly 1% of my CPU. And, the hardware in this particular rig is the very definition of middle-of-the-road.
So, unless these people are running low-end hardware from 1999, I fail to see how Steam is "lagging" their machine. At least, by itself.
