I hope this is true.
Though really, its an Airport.
Who in their right mind would bring ANYTHING that could be considered a weapon there?

Just sounds like a collosally stupid thing to do to take weapons to airport let alone a plane. Steve Jobs throwing a hissy and saying you'll never see me again sound almost plausible.
... And everyone else making similar comments...
Why exactly?
I took a sword through 4 different airports, and only once did security come and check up on it.
And all they did was ask me to open the bag it was in, look at it for all of 2 seconds, and say it was fine, then walk off again.
The rules aren't that complicated;
Don't take it as carry-on luggage. (must be checked baggage in the hold),
Declare it to customs upon arrival. (assuming you can find anyone - Amazing how often customs isn't manned in airports these days.)
That's it.
Granted, it helps if there are no import, export or licensing issues in the countries involved...
For instance, while taking a sword along is usually OK, nunchuks are illegal in most countries, and firearms are too, or at the very least require a license.
(ammunition also runs afoul of the rules against flammable and explosive material aboard aircraft.)
Ironically, though, it's usually against the law to send weapons through the mail, so if you have one, it could be tricky taking it with you if you can't take it on the aircraft somehow...
