According to Push Square there seems to be slight evidence that a PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 ... kind of. If you look at these lines of cracked source code found within the PC version of the game:

m_nMaxRenegade=1900
m_nMaxParagon=1957
m_srXPFormat=340881
m_srSpendTalentPointsMessageXBox?=348754
m_srParagonRenegadeMessageXBox=3?48755
m_srSpendTalentPointsMessagePC=3?48753
m_srParagonRenegadeMessagePC=348?755
m_srSpendTalentPointsMessagePS3=?348755
m_srParagonRenegadeMessagePS3=15?3007

Hmm everything is normal the BAM PS3? Now this could all be a bunch of nothing or added to it after but this is the second source I've seen it from.

What do you think? Could Microsoft really hold EA (which now owns bioware for those unaware) back from releasing one of the biggest exclusives of this generation from other platforms? Can they with how much potential money it would print? Could they port a sequel without the original and it still sell like virtual tasty gooey hot cakes? Would it lose anything in the transition? Or would it go the bioshock route and add more? What do you think of EA's acquiring of Bioware? How has it effected/not effected the company? Where is Jade Empire 2?

I personally think it'll be at least a year but I'd wait for it just to see what they might add/improve. Also with out igniting the great inferno that is the console wars I prefer my PS3 over my xbox. I'd also love to see the original ME get a look over and brought over to the PS3. With the new combat system, new mako controls, and install ability to get rid of the long load sequences.

It makes zero sense to release Mass Effect 2 on the PS3 unless they're deciding to port the original game over as well.

well, to me it wont happen
but if it does, it wont be for a while
look at Bioshock, that took about a year or two before showing up on the PS3. and with more content. that might happen IF ME2 is put on there
but my overall opinion is, it wont happen
once again i do agree, that itd be cool to see the first ME on PS3

Something tells me that those lines are for testing purposes... Just a hunch.

How could Microsoft hold them back? They don't own any of the rights. If it were a Microsoft exclusive, it wouldn't have been released on Steam.

Steam is a Windows based distributing system! Windows = Microsoft.

Steam is completely independent of Windows, it can run on any operating system. They wouldn't be able to distribute that game if they didn't have the right(s) to do so, meaning that Mass Effect 2 is not a Microsoft exclusive.
There are lots of games that run on Windows, but that doesn't mean that they're owned by Microsoft. In the same sense, Halo 2 is no longer a console exclusive, but that doesn't mean that you can buy it on Steam.

And, if you want to get technical Microsoft=Windows

Steam is a program programmed for windows.
So by using it on any other operating system you are doing it out of intended purpose.
So you have to buy windows to have steam to have Mass Effect 2.
So your going to tell me microsoft has no stake in the IP itself?
Your telling me that Microsoft has no stake what so ever in one of it's biggest exclusives of this generation and that because they don't EA/Bioware just decided not to make money and make a PS3 version?
