If they had the techto do Milo it would be a waste.

Imagine using the milo tech. Only this time its a wii fit style "game" but Milo is an angry as fuck, marine PT instructor. Like the guy on full metal jacket. He'd be there for "motivational" purposes.

360: *shouts* "How tall are you maggot?"
Player: *squeeks* "5'4..."
360: *shouts louder* "Holy dogshit! I didn't know they stacked shit THAT HIGH! Now get down and give me 20... 1!... 2!..."

Sources suggest that Peter Molyneux's virtual boy might have been mothballed.
It's not surprising, look what happened the last time a video game company tried to make a Virtual Boy [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_boy].
Completely different things. Nintendo's Virtual Boy was called that because their other hand-held console was called a Game Boy. Molyneux's creation, on the other hand, was an AI persona/program that you were suppossed to interact with to... who knows why.
I was aware of the differences thank you. Since the article described Milo as a "virtual boy" I was merely drawing a parallel between the two since they are both failures (sort of) in the video game industry with the same name.

Honestly, I'm not surprised. I've never been a fan of Kinect the way it stands at the moment (I think it's a great idea, but the games I've seen thus far haven't made me want one at all).

Also... why would any adult who doesn't want to be nicknamed Paedo want to 'interact with an AI boy'. I mean, I wouldn't. It's creepy.
Because maybe some adults happen to like children. How is looking after a virtual child anymore creepy than looking after a virtual dog or cat?
Besides you basicly saying cats and kids are interchangable, the fact this game was had a strong pedophile vibe going on and was straight up creepy. a cat and dog are not the same as people despite what peta tries to convence us.
Exactly what was this "pedophile vibe"? Last time I checked verbally interacting with children doesn't make you a pedo.

Good. Since my original thoughts on the whole thing were definately along the lines of "Aaaack!! KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!!!"

Milo is waaaay too creepy. Figures, since Molyneux thinks it's awesome.

I'd play that game.

LOL That's rich!

Isn't that cute they are actually pretending that they were working on the game at one point... and that the game really existed.

no but buying a child to be a house pet does, as this game is. Its not meeting a kid while your out walking and talking to him, its buying a child to keep at home as a pet.
Technically it wouldn't. Don't get me wrong, buying a real child to keep at home definitely isn't right, but it would only be pedo if the buyer was sexually attracted to the child in question. If for example you had a woman (or a man) who was slightly unhinged and really wanted to be a parent, so they buy a child illegally, then what they would have done would have been wrong and if caught they would go to prison. But they wouldn't fall under the psychological definition of a pedophile.

I think the bigger story is Microsoft basically told Molyneux to cut out the shit. Maybe they're getting tired of the old "I swear in this game you create Kelly Lebrock in her prime and she walks out of your TV and does incredibly nasty things to you" and then after the game is released to disappointed gamers everywhere, "well, sure we released the game without the Kelly Lebrock feature I had promised, but our next game will have both Britny and WHitney Stevens instead of just Kelly and they bring along some of their girlfriends. Trust me."

Besides, Milo seemed like just an advanced Seaman.

you seem way to invested in this, fine its a slavery simulator :p i mean the fact its an ultra realistic child that exist solely for you to play with is just weird.
It seems no more weird to me than a pet simulator, which is an ultra realistic animal that exists solely for you to play with. But I understand that a lot of people don't like children enough to like the idea of this game. Just remember that not everyone is the same as you :)

yes, because everybody knows that a cloud-based artificial intelligence is the best way to go, not like there would be an "anonymouse" group of people that would take it into themselves to corrupt that!

anyone ever heard of "cleverbot"???

well. i would imagine that this kind of games would be most succesfull in Japan, were Dating Sims are the norm, so it only sounds obvious that they would actually like a "kid sim" or "children sim"

and if they ever made a Dating sim out of the milo frame... i would probably buy it just for the "FUCK!! HE´S GOT A VIRTUAL GIRLFRIEND" factor

i wanna be the next guy that marries a videogame XD

LMAO!!!

Actually this is a disappointment. Milo represented something different and unique. Haters of Milo are just people who are too closed minded to think otherwise.

Well i hope not, If everyone was like me this would be the last generation cause I hate babies and never want one at all. :D so for the human species to survive i hope Im in the minority, I also hope your in the minority, no offense, of seeing a human child the same as a kitten.
In my opinion human children are cuter and more interesting than kittens (no offense if your a cat lover!), but it probably is a good thing that I'm in the minority, otherwise there would be worldwide population explosion!

I'm sure that NAMBLA is terribly disappointed by this announcement, but I figured it would never make it to the shelves: it was more of a proof-of-concept of cloud-based AI than anything-- involving Kinect tech was just a matter of efficiency (one PoC sandbox for both, rather than two separate ones).
