Instead of the dreaded 4th Edition of WoD, could they move it back to the much more interesting(I.E., has lore and character and 'heart') earlier World of Darkness?

Though, any WoD MMO is better than none I suppose.
Only problem with 3rd edition is the game world isn't really valid past 1999. Tech has advanced exponentially since then and security has steadily increased. 2010 is much more hostile world to would be supernatural.

I hope they offer players the abilities to be hunters. Society of Leopold would be quite prevalent in today's society. Most likely behind tea bagger parties.
Who says it couldn't be set in the (not so distant) past? I'm grasping at straws of course because I really liked the old WoD and can't be arsed to care about the new one, but in my mind at least that would work!
You're welcome to keep playing Old WoD (on tabletop or live), but I have a feeling White Wolf aren't going to make a videogame for a gameline they no longer support...

Besides, there's one major thing the New WoD has over Old WoD. In old WoD, your bloodline/tribe/etc. determines not only your base abilities and kin, but also your political allegiances and outlooks. It's very restraining. In New WoD, in each game you have five wide-ranging "blood" groups to choose from, and five "political" groups to choose from. You can mix and match them as you see fit, or choose to be unaligned. Still, even if you're unaligned, you're still a part of one of the supernatural divisions within the larger group. It makes a lot more sense than the "monolithic" approach of Old WoD.

yeah the numerous logistical problems with he masquerade and unbeatable discipline combos didnt ruin it at all ;)
honestly i find that nWoD runs far smoother. Sure the system is alot simpler, but is that so bad? we really didnt need fully customizable clans when they really only come out once in a millenia, and the generation system was so broken it hurt

Don't forget the Golden Rule of WOD Canon: Ignore what you don't like. Gehenna can happen in 1999, 2999, 314159, or Caine and his grandchilder can really just be a myth.

A full-scope, all-inclusive oWOD game is the kind of thing I dream about, with epic, open-ended grandeur without all that tedious mucking about in talking-to-yourself-waiting-for-your-players-to-goddamn-say-something-already. This is, of course, impossible.
Especially with Mages. The only way I think it could work would be if Mage players were allowed to change the game's source code. Then they might be as full of cheesy goodness as they are in a tabletop crossover.

I absolutely LOVED bloodlines, however that was largely because of its atmosphere. I still think its one of the top games ever for atmosphere, but I have my doubts whether this would be preserved. This could be the game I break my "never pay monthly payments" rule for.

Very interesting bit of news. Unfortunately, I'm another fan of the OWOD that hasn't moved on to the NWOD, so I'm not sure if I'd want to play or not if it's going to be NWOD-based. I'll definitely still keep an eye out for more info.

Hmm... an MMO with slut vampires, werewolves and lots of nasty things sounds interesting.

Clan Malkavia signing up!

Now, where do I leave my chicken?

Hmm...
One thing I never understood about the World of Darkness is why there weren't any "hybrid" clans.

As in... a Malkavian/Brujah, or a Gangrel/Tremere.

Okay... that could get a little unbalanced...
but still... it could be interesting...

I mean... there was that whole "blood bonding" mechanic in the pen and paper game...

ah well...

Still, I think this could be one of the few MMOs I have ever looked forward to (aside from Champions and The Old Republic).

Oh, hell yeah. Nice to hear this thing's real.

So long as the Uratha (werewolves) and the Mages make it into this game as PCs, I'm going to enjoy this game.

Each of the clans is actually formed from the blood of their Antidiluvian; or borrowed one in the case of Giovanni. The Curse of Malkav runs through all of Malkav's kine and the reason you can't have hybrids is that the blood has to be strong to hold all the disciplines.

That's why the Caitiff are seen as the Harbingers of Gehenna, because they are hybrids.

This would definitely be one I checked out and one of the few potential MMOs to get my money instead of WoW.

I have mixed feeling about old and new WoD.
On one hand, Malkavian, on the other, Sin-Eater.

Malk, Geist, Malk, Geist, there are so very few answers for the question at hand.

I can't fathom them coming close to the WoD mmo I'd like to have though.
One with all the different races and whatnot crossed over. Issue being how enormous the world would need to be as Sin-Eaters and Werewolves probably have a little tiny bit of distinction in the type of quests they'd see, say, the ENTIRE quest log... <.<
That would be layering your development time on top of itself for every book. Let alone the necessary work in blending them together so that it doesn't seem forced.

I'll probably give this a pass unless they manage one of the two mentioned above while keeping it a good game in general. HALF of bloodlines is really all it takes to be good though, and that's considering how broken and rushed Bloodlines was. Great, great, game.

I wonder how they are gonna the whole day/night cycle what with the vampires in all.
Would be pretty annoying logging then find out the sun's still up.
Werewolves would benefit from a lunar calender too

I'd imagine the Umbra would be like the spirit world in Soul Reaver.

I love the idea of another WOD video game.

Yet it is an MMOG, so I will not play it.

Good times.

i doubt this game really exists as anything more than disparate bits of code, concept art and a bundle of misc graphical assets for demonstration purposes.

CCP is and always has been hugely devoted and involved with its space, spreadsheets and schadenfreude MMO. even something tangential to the ship experience, Incarna, is pushing 4 years of development.

i like many other people was excited about the best parts of EVE's political intrigue and complexity being layered onto one of my favorite RPG IPs. my advice is: don't hold your breath.

Well... as long as they don't do WoD the same way they did EVE, it might be worth looking into!

Would be extra interesting if they did more than Kindred though... possibly have the Garou as an opposing faction, with Mages as a semi-neutral third faction that has it's own agenda completely. Now that would be cool.

Is it only the Vampire: The Masquerade, or all the WoD sub-games?
Because Mage: The Ascension kicks ass.
But, if it is based off of the NWoD, I'll still get it, and still be a mage (Mastigos FTW).
