Rumored PC Version of Gears 2 Looking Unlikely

A rumored PC version of Gears of War 2 [http://gearsofwar.com/] is starting to look doubtful as it becomes apparent that much of the information about the game was actually lifted wholesale from another game entirely.

Games for Windows [http://pc.ign.com/articles/994/994129p1.html] logo and details of a limited edition release of the game.

But as Xbox Live [http://kotaku.com/5288146/gears-of-war-2-on-pc-try-bears-of-war] references were missed; one line in the game description says it "[takes] full advantage of the Xbox Live service, which boasts 10 million gamers."

The box art, meanwhile, appears to be a Photoshopped version of the 360 cover as well, including an "Artwork Not Final" notification across the bottom of the image. Finally, the advertised UPC code, MPN (manufacturer's part number) and ASIN (Amazon standard identification number) all match up to a completely different game: The PC version of The Golden Compass [http://www.sega.com/thegoldencompass/].

A denied [http://www.microsoft.com] that the game will be coming to the keyboard-and-mouse set.

The condensed version? Anything's possible but I wouldn't hold my breath. You'll wake up with a nasty headache.

As a PC Gamer, I'd like to say that this is the worst news I've had this year. It's truly saddened me to the core.

Oh wait, of course it hasn't. Because Gears of War is terrible.

I'm still glad I sold my 360.

Wait, there are PC gamers who bought Gears of War?

I thought they only existed in the same way Unicorns and God exist, no-one's been able to effectively prove they don't exist yet...

I bought it! Works great, but keeps moaning at me that I need new graphics drivers and it needs massive specs.

Hilarious...

At least EPIC are true to their word when they said there would be no PC version.

Gears of War? Oooohh, right. That game I played on my brothers Xbox and asked "Is there anything else to do other than duck behind waist-high covers and shoot?"

Yeah, I'm not gonna miss that a whole lot.

(EDIT: Oh right, sorry. You can also chainsaw people in the face with your bigass chainsaw/gun/thing)

People Can Fly did the PC port of Gears 1. And seeing as how they're working on Painkiller: Resurrection that might mean that they have no team to make it. Or it could all be cause Cliffy B is a ****.

Man I want my Gears 2 already. I don't give a damn about what others say, gears is fun and far from "garbage". I still have tons of fun with the PC version, hell I got back into playing multiplayer after neglecting it for a few months and it's still pretty damn fun. Still hope there is SOME possibility of it coming to PC :(

They're not, an Austrian studio called "Homegrown Games" does - it's a "fan project gone professional" kind of thing.

So, People Can Fly aren't making Resurrection? So it's gonna be another Overdose?

Oh no what a dreadful loss to the fraternity of PC shooters that focus not using auto aim and not relying on a massive ROF in cone effect recoil system to kill your enemies.

Today is a sad day, I sahll go and cry in the corn... Bwhahahahaha no sorry I cant keep it up.

Seriously Gears is a Console game why on earth would we want it ported onto PC ? You would be better buying an Xbox because its the only way the game would be enjoyable.
simply put you can't use a mouse and keyboard which is a superior aiming systems than a controller is.

the controller is a horrible way to do an aiming system, way to slow and clunky

hehe.

Yeah, I bought it. It was fun, I liked the cover system. What I didn't like was getting owned over and over by Xbox fanboi who'd already had the game for a year (*cough* overpowered sniper rifle *cough* ). The game also had abominable FPS slowdowns and stuttering due to some bug in the Unreal engine they couldn't or wouldn't fix.

Cliffy said the sequel wouldn't be ported, and when the news came out I honestly really didn't care, I'd already stopped playing it years ago. There's tons of other shooters as good as or better than Gears.

That's not fair, there are good console type games like DMC4 that are fun on the PC and have good ports. Gears of War, on the other hand, is a repetitive boring tech demo.

Fun on the PC, if you have a 360 controller.
