I just heard the sound of a thousand screaming Xbox Live players crying out in unison. Isn't this going to MASSIVELY upset the balance of FPS games? I mean, my Grandma could score a headshot on Metroid Prime: Corruption. The skill barrier just dropped past the floor, into the basement, and busted out over in China.
Seems to me like someone never actually played Metroid Prime : Corruption. You could only manage that awesome skill near the very end just to make you feel awesome.
Played it and beat it at 100%. Just because I say something you don't agree with doesn't mean you should attack my authority on the topic. Just take a deep breath, think about the flaws in my argument, and explain them rationally. I'm not criticizing the game, it was fun. But Wii-moting is way, way easier to learn than dual-analog.

Microsoft has always, always succeeded best when it had competition to chase. Imitations, mprovements, and feature additions they do really well. Innovation, not so much. Microsoft gets busted all the time for having no original ideas. They have had some original ideas, actually, it's just that they all failed so no one remembers them.

I think I'm in the 0.1 percentile that actually liked the original Xbox controllers. They were the most comfortable controller I've ever used. In that manner, it was a welcomed innovation from Microsoft.

It has potential to be cool, but I doubt many game developers are going to respond to the call of making 360 games that use the Xii-mote (?). It just seems (at least, from where I'm sitting) to be one of those fad accessories that consoles occasionally throw out there. It probably won't amount to anything other than a few games that won't do well.

Let's face it: much as I think a lot of Wii games are pretty lame, the people who made those games and work under the Wii already know what they're doing. They are the ones who are going to make the kick-ass games for motion sensitive controllers.

Also consider that it will probably be fairly pricey when it comes out, as accessories like this often are, and not many people are going to spring for it when it will have poor game support with it. Some people might for the novelty factor, but beyond that? Probably not.

It will be obvious to everyone that Xbox is just jumping on the band wagon. I wouldn't worry that this is going to disrupt anything except a few mildly cool games that won't do well because no one will have the means to play them.

one thing is wii remotes allowed you to aim ANYWHERE on the screen so how useful will they be if 360 games are based on analog's cetnre screen reticle?
also the novelty of the wii-mote wore off in a week then it just became an annoying battery guzzling controller

I hope that Microsoft actually does try to do this.

Then I hope they miserably fail, lose millions of dollars to the production and distribution of such controllers and the games that go with them, get sued for some form of plagurism (if I spelled that right), their headquarters burned to the ground, and the entire board of their gaming division raped by large metal poles and then horribly mutilated.

I really do hope it turns into a gigantic flop if they do make it.

I think it would be pretty damn impossible by now anyways. How do they expect to make it work with 360s that we already have? I don't think they'll waste all that money reconfiguring all the 360s to work with this controller.

Actually, if you asked me, it looks lik the took the dreamcast controller and changed it up, slightly.

Funny, when I hear this I got sad that Microsoft was picking on poor, defenseless Nintendo, the plucky underdog. And then I remembered the sales charts for the past three years.

I'll do you the favour of editing out the "happy fun bigotry" in your post, but you really should consider counselling for that.

As to how they'll get 360s and Xii-motes to play well with each other, well, the current controllers run on Bluetooth(-oid?) already. I can't see it taking more than a software or firmware update over Live or by CD/DVD... though I'm prepared to accept correction from anyone who knows more about it than I do.

I really hope microsoft doesnt make the same mistake as nintendo by using motion control, because motion control just a big pile of shite.
