To be fair, it looks like Nintendo is about to do the same thing with the Wii U and it's "NX".sanquin said:I wonder what the reaction will be. Since this is basically Sony saying "yea that PS4 we sold you as our new flagship? It wasn't up to par, here's a proper console." Unless PS4 buyers can upgrade or something.
Oh great... Well, seems like the big three are acknowledging that they basically released a poor performance console. As usually consoles last a lot longer than a mere 3 years. Now, as a PC gamer I'd say spending 400 dollars on new hardware in 3 years time isn't that expensive, but that's one of the few arguments left that consoles have in their favour. But if they keep going along this route, why not just replace 1~2 parts in your PC and have a far more powerful system, rather than buying a new console every few years?CritialGaming said:To be fair, it looks like Nintendo is about to do the same thing with the Wii U and it's "NX".
You're a better man than me, I might give up console gaming over that.Corey Schaff said:If they have PS4.5 - only games that aren't the VR ones, I will be very irritated.
That's exactly it, and it's never been easier to hook a PC up to your tv to get the media center experience.Corey Schaff said:Probably the NX would be my only new console purchase for quite a while. I want my games spread out over as few consoles as possible, and if they're going to start doing this crap I'll just keep to the Steam/GOG, now that I have a decent gaming PC.Disco Biscuit said:You're a better man than me, I might give up console gaming over that.Corey Schaff said:If they have PS4.5 - only games that aren't the VR ones, I will be very irritated.
I got mine back in July of 2015 for the same price. I see no need for upgrading since it looks more like it's going to be mainly for the VR headset, and I don't have a 4K TV anyway.-Jak- said:This could backfire next gen with launch sales not being as high. I don't regret buying my PS4 in the 3 months I've owned it (and got it for $300). But this may not suit well for those who brought the PS4 at launch. Even if there won't be 4k game exclusives. And rumors of the PS4k not being powerful enough to run todays games at native 4k with current AAA standards.
Nintendo already did something similar with the New 3DS, and does have New 3DS exclusives. Asides from NX developments. So this PS4k development is going to be an interesting if true. And I won't be surprised if MS isn't far behind making a similar counter move.
Yea I don't have a 4k tv either. And the distance needed to sit from the tv to notice a difference. Is greater than my current setup in my bedroom.CoCage said:I got mine back in July of 2015 for the same price. I still like it. I keep a PS3 on a 3d TV for this purpose. Movies on it are fun too. Not a must but, the world is a richer place with more rather than less toys.Hair Jordan said:Btw, whatever happened to "3d gaming". Remember when that was going to be the next big thing?
Er, middle model was the best. The final model ran hot and noisy. Mid model: wish I bought 2. And a couple of 1 TB drives for them.Gekidami said:I dont really see whats so special. Sony have pretty much done this with all of their consoles at one point with their "Slim" consoles. Even if their focus was a smaller size, they're always added hardware better than the previous. The PS3 Slim had better hardware than the original PS3.
In fact Sony did it twice with the PS3 because they released the Super Slim later. So really, this PS4K is just this gens Slim model.
There is now a 4K disc player. Very hard to buy (like a Ps3 and 4 were at first). Do you know if the PS4.5 will have this player in it? Thanks.MatParker116 said:Out this holiday, will be around $400 and will be able to uprez games and video to 4K.
