I'm trying to install the Monkey Island Saga on my Windows XP and it won't budge. Computer tells me I need Windows 95, basically. How can I go around this? I'm almost certain I used to be able to play the first couple of games no hassle (you only need to install the third game to play it) but now I can't even play those. So what do I do, please?

PS: Already tried going to .exe's Properties > Compatibilty Tab > Execute Windows 95. Didn't do shit.

Thanks, I've managed to run Monkey Island 1 and 2. Monkey Island 3 is proving to be a bit of a pain though. The first 2 games don't require an installation, so all I did was copy/paste the files in ScummVM. The third game requires 2 CDs and needs to be installed and I'm trying out every silly thing I can think of to get it working.

You just need to have the game files to run the game on ScummVM. You don't need to do a proper installation.

I've had a quick flick through the ScummVM documentation, and it looks like you need to copy the files from both CDs to your computer (The readme lists comi.la0, comi.la1 and comi.la2, as well as the "resource" folders from both CDs. Full text is as follows:

The Curse of Monkey Island notes said:
---- ---------------------------------
For this game, you will need the comi.la0, comi.la1 and comi.la2 files.
The comi.la0 file can be found on either CD, but since they are
identical it doesn't matter which one of them you use.

In addition, you will need to create a "resource" subdirectory
containing all of the files from -both- "resource" subdirectories on the
two CDs. Some of the files appear on both CDs, but again they're
identical.
You would then need to point ScummVM to the folder you created and you *should* be able to install it from there.

It sometimes helps to emulate Win95/98 to get those old games to work. I have to do it with the first 5 games in the Touhou series if I ever want to go back and play them. VirtualBox is a good emulator for this purpose.
