The problem with transfats is they are SO widespread these days and it's not like you can exactly ask a restaurant when you walk in.

So actually the government have a damn good right to try and get them banned if they're bad for your health. They can't ban you from going to McDonald's and KFC, but they should at least try and make sure something incredibly dangerous is banned.

OT: All politicians have good and bad points, this guy is obviously no exception.

I was just using that as an example. Despite that, my point still stands. Yes, trans fats are dangerous. Smoking and alcohol are INCREDIBLY dangerous, yet those are still around.

My problem with the idea that "Well, the government is just protecting you from dangerous stuff" is that it can be applied to so many things. Give the government too much control, all in the name of security, and you'll be in major trouble down the line.

Agreed. I used to think he was just another stupid crazy person. But after reading one of his books, he's actually not that bad. I still don't agree with him, but he's not as bad as most say. Still kind of crazy though.

Glad he's on our side. If crazy people can see how this law is stupid as hell, then there may still be hope. And he raises a good point.

Actually, his entire platform is "Make the government go away!" Anyone telling you otherwise is lying to make Rush look like a hypocrite (even though Rush is nothing if not consistent).

This isn't a Left/Right divide. Conservative judges are often the biggest defenders of Constitutional Rights because they often rely on Original Intent. While the Left often has a much more expansive idea of how government should protect citizens. Both of which frequently over-ride the more stereotypical political ideology.

That D or R is no real indicator of which way a politician will fall on the issue.
