Russian Cosplayer Becomes Bioshock: Infinite's Elizabeth

We love our Bioshock cosplayers so much we hired one, Irrational Games proclaims.

Anna Moleva, aka Ormeli [http://ormeli.deviantart.com/], is the official face of Bioshock: Infinite's Elizabeth, and will be helping Irrational Games with its promotional materials and television adverts. The talented Moleva will also be appearing as Irrational's guest at select events, in the run-up to Bioshock: Infinite's release next year.

Moleva had some difficulty getting her heroine's look just right. "The thing is," says Moleva, "that I first saw Liz as she appeared initially: a different hairdo, a different costume." Work started, but then Irrational changed Liz's appearance. Not a problem, thought Moleva; this can be fixed, and so she began afresh. Then Irrational changed Liz's look a second time.

"I remember pacing around my apartment, furious," Moleva said. "'Dear developers! How can one cosplay a character whose appearance is constantly changing?!'"

Not that these setbacks stopped her. "When Liz's appearance was finalized," Moleva said, "and I saw what I think is a remarkable resemblance between us, I as a cosplayer couldn't just ignore it." Naturally at the moment she can't put more than a face to Elizabeth, since nobody really knows what the character will be like. However if you want to know what Moleva looks like, just sneak a peek at the back of the box; Irrational already has her face out there, and there will be more to come.

Bioshock: Infinite [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/trailers/6439-BioShock-Infinite-Beast-of-America-Trailer] is due out for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in February 2013.

Her cosplay of [a href=http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2012/330/7/7/dishonored__empress_jessamine_by_ormeli-d5m73rn.jpg]Empress Jessamine[/a] is magnificent.

I'm trying to come up with something intelligent or amusing to write here, but all I can think is, well..."Daa-yum."

Reminds me of Lollipop Chainsaw. I wonder if they are going a similar route with this. I like the idea.

Huh, judging from her DeviantArt that woman really enjoys owning costumes... wish I had the money and space for a project like a Mass Effect costume.

Of all the complaining I keep seeing about Elizabeth's design, I say shut up and be happy that she's not in a thong and her tits are hanging out of a bra made of dental floss. Also, she's not being contorted into the infamous boobs-butt pose, which is the go-to design of most cover art featuring women.

Wait what... generic and bland?

You're showing a video game character with impossible proportion... and then right beside, a beautiful woman wearing the exact same outfit, but from a different angle (Blue skirt, white corset, blue jacket - You can even see the 'cleavage window')... and you think the real woman is generic and bland?

Shesh.

Aye, I was confused by that too. If anything the only change I see is in the face, which looks a little off to me in the second one. What strange times we live in. The character needed better proportions though, I honestly clicked on this thinking "I guarantee they just asked someone with gargantuan boobs to cosplay this".

Congratulations for her ;)

What I did not like, though it's no cataclism, more like supreme lack of imagination, was that front art. It's exactly the same pose from the first Uncharted game, only the character has his front to us instead of his back. It doesn't really convey that awe-inspiring feeling that comes with Bioshock (and that seems to be well and alive as far as gameplay videos went with Infinite.)

I dno, I liked the character art more when they were showing it off in the Trailers:

Before the feminists went through it: http://www.oxm.co.uk/47662/features/the-oxm-breakdown-women-in-videogames/

And it turned into this:

She looks kind of bland and generic now.

They're not really through with complaining and messing with it till she's dressed like a catholic nun though: https://twitter.com/femfreq/status/273885244720029696

I don't think it's generic and bland. Actually, the lack of cleavage is better, every woman from steampunk fantasies and stuff look like Emilie Autumn (aka: a "wayward girl"...), and other than that, nothing really changed, in my opinion at least... And I'm on the feminist side this time, because I want her to be independent, for selfish reasons obviously: I HATE defending characters in games, so I'd rather trust the npc's instincts to cover their own ass.

Here's an amusing fact for you "моле ва"(mole va) means "please everybody" in heavy Bulgarian street slang, the right pronunciation is "моля ви"(molia vi,"ia" being one sound, kind of like "sh")

Lemme help you with a amusing comment.

You'd think she would have realised that the obvious answer is to wait for the game to be released.

OT:Well cudos to her for the determination to make her costume and finish it before the game even launched as well as go through three iterations of it.

Admittedly she does carry a very close resemblence to the character albeit with a slightly thinner face than Elizabeth's as shown in the trailers.

Damn, she's good. Really good makeup abilities, so she can make her face and hair appear whatever shape she wants. Really good costuming abilities as well, to make those things as ass-kickingly accurate as they are. I wonder if she gives lessons?

Of course, it's possible that there are other people she works with who help her with these things, but that makes it no less awesome.

No, she goes from a more anime-esque art style with exaggerated eyes in the first picture to a more realism-based art style in the second. It might be your preference is for the former instead of the latter.

Aw, I was hoping the Pinkerton agent would have a kickass turn-of-the-century beard/mustache. Seriously, gaming needs more wacky early 20th century facial hair.
