Ryse: Son of Rome Live-Action Trailer Takes "The Path of Vengeance"

The new Ryse: Son of Rome live-action trailer is almost as interesting as the accompanying "making of" video about the process of creating its elaborate armor and weapons.

His name is Marius Titus, and he will have his vengeance, in this life or the next! Or something like that. Something very much like that, really, as Marius shanks his way through a gang of Germanic barbarians. After that, it's off to Skyrim for a throw-down with the Dovahkiin, some good times in the coliseum and a quick stopover in Rome to discuss Imperial pension plans and benefit packages.

Fun stuff if you're into that sort of thing, but far more interesting is the "Forging the Armor and Weapons" video that accompanied the trailer's release. It doesn't go into any kind of real detail, which is unfortunate, but it does illustrate the complexity of the armor and weaponry used in the video and offers a brief glimpse at the effort that went into making it. The studio that created the armor, The Sword and the Stone [http://www.swordandstone.com/], has also created pieces for Pirates of the Caribbean, Criminal Minds, Thor and other television shows and movies.

The Xbox One-exclusive Ryse: Son of Rome comes out on November 22.

It's like everything I hear and see about this game.

Very high production value but absolutely no spirit or passion. There's really nothing that makes any emotional connection whatsoever.

Remember the Skyrim live-action trailer? I at least was pumped by the end, awesome stuff! But this? There's just nothing there. All show, no substance.

Ooh, can we come up with passive-aggressive names for this game?

Ryse: Launch Albatross of Rome?
Ryse: Son of Meh?
