Gattaca was very oppressive.
Even the "happy ending" was dark.
I liked that movie a lot!

Titanic. I didn't cry personally (too much ego to admit it).

I thought Godzilla was pretty sad. The only thing that huge fire-breathing, car crushing, building stomping, people eating monster wanted to do was have monsterous little babies.

Theres a thread with almost exactly the same topic right here. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.115039]

If not the search bar, at least read the front page before making a thread. Duplicate threads are frowned upon here.

That said, the film I cried the most in was probably "The Christmas Shoes".

You should watch The Butterfly Effect Direcot's Cut. The hollywood ending is crap, the one on the DC is amazing.

That too. And Bill Murray tries so hard to help him...
But to no avail.

Charlotte's Web. Always freaked me out as a child (Still does.)

Maybe it's me, but I can't stand to hear someone scream, "I don't wanna die!" while everyone around them just tells them to accept it.

Thinking bad thoughts now...

The end of Repo! was overdone, I felt like the whole movie was degenerating into an angst filled rock off.

But The Truman Show.
I wouldn't call The Truman Show sad personally, but I can see why you'd say that.

I think saddest thing I've seen is probably The Prestige, due to the fact that two of the three main characters in it die in the end. Really clever storyline though.

Either that or Lord of the Flies, but the old adaptation's terrible.

There are a lot of god awful depressing stories out there, hard to pick a "got me the worst".

Surprised "Donnie Darko" hasn't made any lists that I have seen though.

The Elephant Man ("I wish my mother was alive to see what wonderful friends I have") and Grave of the Fireflies were the first ones that come to mind for me.

I wish I could say "Schindler's List", but I still haven't seen it yet, alas. The trophy therefore goes to Wolverine

The Green Mile. I don't generally care for Tom Hanks, but that film gets me right here, every single time.
