The scene in Fire Emblem Path Of Radiance where Ike's father is defeated by The Black Knight. I felt so sorry for Ike and his Sister now not having any parents :(

Hmm. I believe i've got two of such moments that made me very nearly shed some manly tears (and as someone emotionally scarred, that says something)and ill say them in chronological order.

1) The microwave area of MGS4. I was not only watching, but forcing my hero (not protagonist, snake is very literally my childhood and current hero) to go through excruciating pain at pretty much the cost of his life. That's also where it hit me that "this was it", and it hit home HARD.

2) The end of Professor Layton and the Unwound Future. I had my guesses as to the end, but to see and hear it all happen brought tears to my eyes. I was sad for like two days after that about the end of that game and how it all turned out..

(on an off note: DAMNIT CAPTCHA im drunk! stop giving me ridiculous shit to spell for you!!!)

The part in Pokemon Red and Blue Mystery Dungeon where the main character dies, * sniff* never had i felt so much sadness over losing a fictitious character.
My god. You had to remind me of those tears.

OT: Mystery Dungeon 2 ending.

And why did the only member of Noble Team with a soul have to go first.

There's a beautifully written text adventure game called Photopia.

I don't want to spoil it, but the whole game is based around a certain very sad event and when you realize what's actually happened it hits you like a ton of bricks.
Just finished it, interesting work. Thanks for mentioning it.

Someone mentioned the scene in Saint's Row 2 with Carlos. That was a tear jerker for me. In my recent memory, inFAMOUS 2, evil ending.
Zeke gets the plague (regardless of whether you go hero or not) and at the end you are thrown for a loop and people switch sides. If you decide to side with The Beast, Zeke goes against you and says "Next time I see you, you better shoot first." Now in this game, Zeke is actually pretty damn likable compared to how he was in the first. Well you end up having to kill Nix, and then Zeke shows up and you have a little show down, he shoots you with his revolver, you shoot him 3 times with a lightning bolt. I was pretty bummed that you had to kill him. Then The Beast decides he can't do what he's doing anymore and gives you his power and YOU become the Beast (much like I thought Cole was going to end up being the Beast anyway.)

in final fantasy:rng of fate (?)
when the 10 yearold kid goes out into the rain and digs his fathers own grave. and then spends a long time cutting the air
didnt make me cry because they were just the little annoying avatars on DS.

edit: oh i forgot TS:FP R110's "i only... wanted to be... lovvvvved..."

The first that comes to mind, and most cliched, is of course Aeris' death in FFVII.

But equally gut-wrenching is the scene in Suikoden (the original) where you have to fight and kill your own father. The little sprite taking his son's hand and saying, "The greatest pride a father can feel is seeing his son surpass himself" is about as poetic a scene in gaming as I can recall.

Saddest gaming moment?

Finding out that brown FPS shooters that re-release more than Madden were the most popular games now.

Point and shoot! Curse/be cursed at by children through a headset! Hack! Aim-bot! Repeat ad-nauseam! FUN!

Ugh.

For me it is Crisis core. I never played a Final Fantasy game, and i really liked Zack. It was just so sad that he never got back to Aerith.
