The Assassins Creed Revelations ending was brilliant, but the Assassins Creed Embers ending somehow outdid that. Don't care that is isn't technically a game, when Ezio's letter is read out I shed many a tear.

Oddly enough, one of the saddest moments I've experienced in a game is at the end of the prologue to Kingdom Hearts 2, just before you start playing as Sora again. It just wears down on you, the knowledge that everything you know is a lie and you can never go back to who you were.
Another couple of close one's are the last act of Bioshock 2, especially when you have to get the key from Sinclair.
One last one, less tearing-up sad and more Righteous-vengeance sad, the last Dark Brotherhood quest in Skyrim, when you get back to the Sanctuary and it's under attack. I was playing an Argonian, and when I found Veezara's corpse I just went crazy. Since there seem to be so few Argonians in Skyrim I was really protective of the ones that I befriended. Also, I finished the quest while still wearing my chef's hat from the previous quest. 'Cause that's how people know that shit got real.

When I played Red Dead Redemption for the first time, I would have said the ending. But when I replayed it a couple months back, what struck me, was the last mission where you go to Bonnie. The apprihensive look and the kick in the dust made me shed one tear.
That was such a great little character moment. For the whole first part of the game Bonnie plays it cool with Marston but you can tell that they're getting emotionally closer to each other and you're still left wondering whether or not she had any deeper feelings for him. And that's left hanging for the course of the entire game all the way up until that one little moment where she lets her feelings show. I was like "awwwww poor Bonnie" at that point.

When Vladimir died in Battlefield 3. The music, the dead silence afterwards, the way Dima looks back at him several times... I could literally feel Dima's grief in my gut.

Also this scene in Mass Effect 2:

Every time I do that mission, I play the message and burst into tears every time.
That scene from BF3 is up there. Good music choice, and the stunned silence really adds to the effect. Then you're forced to keep on with the mission regardless, preventing it from becoming drawn out. It was such a shock, so sudden, like real war, I guess. The end to the game was also quite bitter-sweet. Both protagonists were in a bad spot, and a nuke had already gone off killing over 80,000 people, kind of nice to have a game without a happy ending.

Maybe I missed it, but in eight pages I didn't see ONE mention of Crisis Core! I bawled like a baby when I saw that ending. I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't played it, but it was so damn sad! I mean you're fighting a losing battle but it won't let you stop!

EDIT: Okay, went back, found at least one mention.

Fuck sad moments. I got lots.

Final Fantasy IX is full of them. Ending was good and a bit happy. Until I realized who was delivering the entire final monologue. Then I began to be teary...

Kingdom Hearts 365/2 Days. Poor poor Xion.

One of the BIGGEST HAS TO BE Final Fantasy Chrystal Chronicles Rings of Fate. That entire ending was a fucking tear jerker.

Shadow of the Colossus. Ending was a bit sad.

Katawa Shoujo. That is all. (Ok that WAS a bit unfair on my part.)

Cave Story. Poor Curly... She drowned after giving you her Bubble shield thingy.

Bastion. The end of the last level was pretty sad.

FF7. Aeris's death. 'Nough said.

SPOILERS FOR MODERN WARFARE 3. Do not click on the link below unless you don't care about the game being spoiled or you have played through the campaign.

I've played many games, from Mass Effect to Portal and Baldur's Gate, but no moment in gaming has made me cry manly man tears such as this one [http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=mTp4PjpImyw#t=83s]. I've grown very fond and attached to the character throughout Modern Warfare 1 and 2, and when I saw this... I just... Yeah.

When a team of my Mammoth Tanks, complete with railgun upgrades and being backed up by a Battle Rig, dies. I lose faith in everything.

No one?s left?Everything?s gone...Kharak is burning!

Kharak is being consumed by a firestorm. The Scaffold has been destroyed. All orbital facilities destroyed. Significant debris ring in low Kharak orbit. Receiving no communications form anywhere in the system? Not even beacons.

Those of you who've played it know exactly what I'm on about. Serious props to Michael Sunczyk (Fleet Intelligence) for conveying a complex set of emotions and giving incredible depth to a character through a mere few lines of dialog.

There's also a no-win situation in Kotor 2 (I believe it's in Nar Shaddaa) where Kreia tells you off no matter what you do, trying to put across the point that your actions have consequences which ripple outwards. On a Dark Side run, I save-scummed and refused to take the evil option for the preceding choice as the performance, the despair, was too convincing- to the point I felt bad as a player for inflicting such things on virtual characters.

Red Dead Redemption had a lot of moments that I got a bit misty-eyed to. Had such brilliant art design and music.

Wow.

Surprised no one said it yet but...

Chrono Cross. Kid in the Dragon Temple. 'Nuff said.

That was the kicker that every time I hear the opening theme song in Chrono Cross I always shed a tear.

"You only lengthened his life, but in the end? They found him all the same. And Frank was the Don?s only real friend? Friendship ain?t worth shit!?

Perhaps sad isn?t the right word? But those words and with the combination of the music, I found the ending to the first Mafia game very moving.

I'd also like to add the death of Carlos in SRII.

Kingdom Hearts, when Riku traps himself behind the door. "Take care of her..."
Kingdom Hearts II, when... Axel disintegrates. "He made me feel like I had a heart." *CRIES EYES OUT*
And AC: Brotherhood, the last Cristina memory. "Requiescat in pace, my love." That just sucked. :(
