Nobody interested huh? I'll keep that in mind, haha.
If others are like me, they have no idea what this thread is supposed to be about. I see a screenshot in which I can barely make out what's going on, along with some non-explanatory text.
And my soul dies a little more.

If you want to know what's going on, go watch the flashback sequence in Metroid: Other M (but if you value your time, don't bother playing it any further than that!)

Elite Beat Agents. The "You're the Inspiration" scenario. It takes a lot to make me cry, but that whole bit nearly got me.

When Vladimir died in Battlefield 3. The music, the dead silence afterwards, the way Dima looks back at him several times... I could literally feel Dima's grief in my gut.

Also this scene in Mass Effect 2:

Every time I do that mission, I play the message and burst into tears every time.

I think the saddest moment in any Video Game is when you see Published by EA or SOE.
Oh come on now... I know that it doesn't seem as cool to play games from huge corporations but EA has some great stuff.
Yeah, can't remember crying whenever I've started up recent great games like BF3, Dead Space(2), Mass Effect(2). And let's not forget that EA is also responsible for the retail versions of Valve's recent games.

When Mike died in RE4.
The chopper pilot who turned up nearly out of nowhere, made cliche idle chitchat, then died the usual helicopter pilots death?

Sorry, but for me watching Luis die was sadder.

I love the MGS games
That was pretty epic-ly sad. I think the ending after the credits of MGS4, where Otacon is talking to Snake. It's just dialogue, but hell, it hits home, especially if you have played all the games.

Finished AC Revelations today, so there's a moment still fresh in my memory.
When Ezio came to check on Sofia and found Yusuf's dead body on a bench in her shop.
I liked Yusuf....

The first that come to mind is the most recent genuinely sad moment I experienced while gaming.
Assassin's Creed Revelations:
When you play Altair's very last moment, and get the objective "Just sit down and rest for a little while", right after his farewell to his son.
I actually had tears in my eyes.

EDIT:

And this. I really liked the guy too, but it didn't make me quite as depressed as the other scene I mentioned. I did go on a killing spree dedicated to him, though...

I have to say in the me2 overlord dlc ending got me tearing up
Dear God... That was horribly sad. Did the writers save all the good story telling for the DLC? There was nothing that compelling in the main story, in my opinion.

Not only is the saddest part of the game, it overcomes four things going against it:

1. It's incredibly early in the game (which is why I didn't spoiler it)

2. We've barely seen Cynthia up to that point.

3. Cynthia wasn't that likable.

4. dat voice acting

And yet it made me bawl. I don't even know how.

When in my entire team in Mass Effect 2 died at the end. Sad times. =(

RIP (In order of deaths)
Jack [Oculus Laser]
Kasumi [Engine core explosion]
Thane [Crushed by debris]
Jacob [Some sort of projectile, possibly from Harbinger, to the face whilst closing doors]
Samara [Sacrificed to save those who were in the pods]
Grunt [Carried off by seeker swarms]
Zaeed [Shot in the stomach when doors were closing]
Miranda [Killed whilst holding off collectors]
Tali [Same as above]
Mordin [Same as above]
Legion [In my squad for the final battle, didn't make it when everything was collapsing]
Garrus [Same as above]
Shepard (The last, and certainly the best) [Didn't make the final jump to the Normandy]

All of you will be remembered... and then come back once I start the game again.

"I think she wanted you, of all people to know the truth. She wanted to live on in your memory, not as a soldier: but as a woman"

I'm quite sure you know which ending to which game this is from..and the fact it wasn't mentioned yet is damned disappointing
