Metal Gear Solid 3's ending. I cried throughout the entire end sequence. I mean, seriously, they *made you press the button.* They did. And it was *so sad.* I get little shivers of despair just remembering it.
Nier's ending, holy cow. After the second-to-last boss fight, it was tears all the way through the end of the credits. I couldn't tear my eyes away from the screen.

Fuck yes it is! Combat was so much better in the first one than the others. Blocking, dodging, countering, all were more intuitive. The worlds were more fleshed out and weren't just boxes you fought heartless in. That was my biggest gripe with 2. You can argue that the portable games were limited by the hardware they were on, but the smaller areas in 2 had no excuse. Damnit! The last good COD game (Call of Duty: United Offensive) had a mission where you are a gunner in a bomber. I believe it was the first mission of the British/Resistance campaign.

That's the one. Anyway, there's a point in there where another bomber gets shot down and you can hear the pilots scream over the radio before they explode.
I don't know why, but the first time I played that mission, that made me feel very sad.

I don't remember a sad moment off the top of my head, but I remember the moment in Saint's Row 2 when
You captured that one guy's girlfriend and put her in the trunk of a car and somehow got the car into the arena where she was crushed by her own boyfriend's monster truck. It actually made me sit back from the monitor a moment. It was pretty fucked up cause she was screaming and stuff just before she got crushed.
Benjamin Carmine's death had me all teary eyed and Noble 6's heroic death was pretty saddening but I think all of heavy rain was the saddest thing ever apart from a couple of the endings...

You have to fight and kill poor Xion who's now following her original "programming" and turns to crystal and disintegrates in Roxas's arms as she tells you just how much your friendship meant to her. To twist the guilt in even further, not only does she just die, all of the memories of her die along with her, (long story) so Roxas and Axel, her only friends who swore to remember their friendship, will forget she even existed at all. She ceases to exist in the truest definition of the word and the only one who will remember her is the player.

Conker's Bad Fur Day. The bright, colorful environments, random misadventures, and outrageous humor leave you totally unprepared and completely vulnerable to the game's rather depressing ending. Berri, the Panther King, and the Professor are all killed (in completely unrelated ways almost at the same time) in front of Conker, before he kills the xenomorph. What makes things worse is that, when he had the chance to bring Berri back to life, he completely forgot to, while in the hype of taking down the enemy before him. He is then left in the old castle, surrounded by his new subjects... every one of which he hates.
It also gets really sad when one of your squad members dies in a Fire Emblem game... and it's pretty much your own fault, too.
