Warning: This may or may not descend into an unintelligible rant.
Saint Patrick's Day is a Catholic Irish holiday. To celebrate it, you wear green for some arbitrarily decided reason. If you don't wear green, domestic violence is implemented.
I do not enjoy wearing the color green. Today, I was constantly pinched and prodded by my colleagues for not wearing green on Saint Patty's Day, despite my many objections.
I am not a Catholic, nor have I even a drop of Irish blood running through my veins. I have no reason to celebrate Saint Patrick's Day. I finally gave up and wrote "Not Celebrating" on a piece of cardstock and taped it to my chest. I do not celebrate Saint Patrick's Day, and I should not have to suffer because everyone and his Grammy wants to celebrate a holiday distant from his or her culture.
I have nothing against Saint Patrick's Day. I do have something against people who punish you for not celebrating, even if you're not Irish or Catholic, and therefore have a reason to ignore it. I'm sick of being punished for not celebrating a culture foreign to my own.
They're trying to force me to join them, man.
Anyone else experience this extremely frustrating day in a similar manner?
