Aww...
When I saw "Virtual Reality" in the title, I was hoping it would support Oculus Rift...

This game just sounds better and better! I just beat Saints Row the Third the other day, and now I'm working on Saints Row 2!

captcha: skynet is watching.

I know its watching. That's why I try to gross it out with the most obscure, disgusting forms of pornography I can think of.

Sounds good so far. The only things I want them to do is make the game longer than the third one, don't make half the missions tutorials and character customization like in the second game. I'm pretty happy with the rest in SR3.

Wait. They wanted to do the zanyness but not go over the top. They give you superpowers, and get kidnapped by aliens. There are mechs and dubstep guns.

...

Exactly what is considered the top? 'Cause it seems to me Volition is pretty high as it is.

The "top" is probably not so much an excess in zaniness, but rather a very specific action which then classifies that the gloves are completely off.

Which is to say, this is absolutely more ridiculous, but over the top would be say... busting up a BSDM club.
Oh wait.
Okay, busting up a BSDM club that is also effectively a prison for an organization's enemies...
Damnit...
Okay fine.
BSDM club, but they sacrifice animals and patrons to satan, which they then use to summon succubi to cater to the higher paying club members. If they do that straight-faced THEN they crossed the over the top line.

"and Dubstep"

Interest = 0.

Though to be fair I've never had an interest in the series before this.

"We are not revealing our strategy for the Penetrator."

I suspect a sneak attack.

The "top" is wherever people stop saying "shut up and take my money!"

Super powers?
Aliens?
You're president?

It sounds like Destroy all Humans! where you're ACTUALLY a human.

Anyway, I'm still looking forward to it, I like feeling like a badass. I just hope they don't OP you from the word go. What I loved in SR3 is that in order to get the very best abilities (my favourite being no fall-damage) you had to work hard to get them. However, don't make them end-game content; we don't want to get the REALLY cool powers right at the end when most people will be ready to turn the game off once they've finished it.

Add the powers somewhere near the middle of the campaign, start them off REALLY basic, and then move to mid-ranged powers just before the end with at least one fully upgraded power so you have a cool new toy to fight the boss with, then all the other high-leveled powers should be end-game.

Since that will give you a pretty big advantage over the standard rival gang members, Volition is introducing a new foe: the Zin, a race of evil aliens that kidnap you and stick you in a virtual Steelport. Naturally.
This seems like a mistake to me; the most enjoyable part of SR2 was the chance to play the role of an outside context villain [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/OutsideContextVillain] in a world where your opponents were largely restricted to real-world equipment and abilities. The second-worst[footnote]the worst was killing off Gat[/footnote] thing in SR3 was the introduction of STAG, because it went against the "Batman villain in the real world" feel 2 had going on.

This is the second time this week that I've seen mention of weaponized dubstep.

So Saints Row 3.5? I can dig it.

Also, to anyone who "hates the late series because it isn't like SR2," I played The Third before I played Saints Row 2, and I thought the third game was better in every cocking way.

I'm just hoping they don't try to make half of the games content DLC like the third seemed it was trying to do.

Being 'over the top' in a Saints Row game would be pretty damn difficult, seeing as utterly insane is below average by SR standards.

Yeah, that was unfortunate, but you have to consider that they REALLY needed money by that time. I can understand why they wanted as much money as possible. Shame it didn't pay off.

It's a Dubstep Gun. It is GENIUS. You aim it at a crowd and they start dubstepping and can't stop. And then you freeze them with your superpowers and then you go bowling by hurling a car at them. And then you cackle with glee.
