I really see no issue if the season pass remains available after the DLC release, if you play a game and like it odd are you are going to buy the DLC for it, so a season pass turns into a bulk discount deal. Its how i have always approached season passes and i have exactly the DLC i want for the games i like.

If a kickstarter campaign is "give us money and we will make something for the game but we wont say what" then yes.
You silly boy. The thing is you ARE aware of what you are buying when you buy a season pass. For CoD, you know you are buying extra maps as and when they are released. For BF3, you know you are buying extra game modes and extra maps as and when they are released.

For Saints Row games, you are aware that you are buying additional storylines, weapons etc etc as and when they are released.
Are you? or are you just guessing based on what was done in other games? or perhaps you are being sold on nice words from the publishers?
its more of an educated guess with 99.99% probability of being correct.

you were talking generalities so I responded in kind.

I know what DLC Saints Row is going to produce so I know exactly what I am buying (judging from prior experience with this IP AND official statements). When someone offers a Season Pass to DLCs they tell you what you are going to get.

Of course people are being sold on nice words silly boy. When publishers are jerks their sales go down. The fact of the matter is your basic premise was incorrect.

You know exactly what you are buying. If you really like the game you are going to end up buying all the DLC in the end anyway so the season pass is a bulk discount deal.

Taking money upfront for a product that is still not determined its content (not made yet) should be illegal, yes, because essentialy you are selling promises.
I have never bought a season pass nor i ever will.
so most of the Kickstarter campaigns should be illegal too huh?
Kickstarter is for crowdsourced funding, it is not for ordering, or preordering things. People who donate money on KS are investing money in a project, not buying a product.

it is indeed fascinating how did you count this probability. or are you just guessing again because you dont really know?
Do you really know what your buying with season pass. this is probably one of the rare DLCs that state what at least part of it contains before the game is actually released. most of the times all you have are promises of "some DLC we think of later on". And even then the information is very vague.
So if nice words is all it takes then would you kindly buy this Manhattan bridge i got to sell to you? i got it specially just for you!

Except that you dont actually know what your buying or even if you are going to like the game at all - it is still not out yet and you havent played it. essentially your buying hope.
