Well the game only came out today and I haven't seen any posts yet, so I'll get it started.

What do you guys think? The first few missions were just unreal and the dialogue is hysterical, but then after roaming around I realized this game kinda sucks....

- They remapped all the cotnrols, I keep reloading when I wanna jump
- they removed the E-brake from driving so now you gotta slow down or drift and smack into something
- they took away destructible secenery so no more throwing garbage cans or street signs
- the graphics are actually a step down, the NPCs look like creatures
- the outfits are preppy and generic and now you only get 3 stores
- customization has actually suffered, vehicle customization is non-existent
- cops shoot at you for no reason, the notoriety bar has dissappeared and all you get is blinky icons
- they grouped all gangs together into one star symbol so now you can tell who you pissed off
- the variety of cars is very low, and gang cars are just basic shitters with neon lights (gone are the days of muscle cars, lowriders and motorcycles....)

now i know this is only day 1 and I'm sure some of these things will get better or appear later on but why is it that developers have to remove so much shit in sequels? To make room for dildo bats? DO BOTH!! (I can say the same about skyrim) Why cant they get that if it works fine don't fuck with it....

Yeah, I'm pretty disappointing.

Can't re-map controls, so I know your pain. Heep jumping when I want to reload.
Can't do my easy, neat turns with the L-trigger. E-brake is now on "A", which is just fucking me up. Since I used that to drive in SR2. Reverse was "X" for me, and shooting was "RT". Yeah, it took me a bit to adjust, especially since I was just coming from a freshly beaten Saints Row 2 playthrough.

The clothing options are reduced by quite a bit. More than I thought. Can't make a pin-stripe suit anymore :(

They removed the bar that detailed you're notoriety. Both the cop and gang one. Complete step backward from a nice, perfect system.

And the city itself just seems a lot smaller, and more empty. Probably a result of moving everything to the phone. I think it has just as much extra stuff as SR2, maybe more, but it sure as hell doesn't feel like it. Open up the SR2 map and you see all kinds of things. Open up the SR3 map and you see... far less things.

Shame really. There's still quite a bit of good, but they took out a LOT of what mad Saints Row 2 great, which is a damn shame. And all of these are minor gripes, yes, but it's all still pretty sad to see.

Also, online code. Fuck online code. You're selling novelty DLC's on Day 1 and a Season Pass and are still asking me to pay for co-op? Screw you THQ. And no, I didn't buy used, I'm playing my brother's copy. Something every brother/sister ever with games has done.

On the plus side, respect has gotten a lot deeper, and not some arbitrary story-mode barrier. So there's that.

So...
Controls: Yay for me owning the PC version I guess, not a problem.
E-brake? Uhh you mean the hand brake? It got replaced with a drift button, which is actually better once you get the hang of it because you can keep an insane speed up.
I'm still seeing destructible stuff? Granted some things seem to actually have some weight to them and don't crumple like paper when you hit them.
I don't know about the 360 or whatever but the game looks fairly good on the PC.
Your opinion on the preppy thing I guess, I don't know about the stores, I really haven't looked since I like the way my guy looks.
Uhh vehicle customization is non existent? It looks like it has the same as 2, wheels, bumpers, etc, spikes, speed boost etc.
Only thing I've noticed with the cops is that they wander into fights and start shooting at both sides.

I was thinking I'd probably pick this up early I read our friend Jim's review on Destructoid. If anyone was ready to love SR3, it was him.

I've never actually played SR2 so I'm thinking I'll pick it up soon since it's so cheap.

The good news is that apparently SR3's PC version is good, so it's perfect Steam sale fodder.
