Saints Row: The Third Initiation Station Demo

I have one for Steam and it doesn't work. I load it up and I just says that Windows has encountered a problem and then it shuts down. No explanation. What is going on here?

It's a resource balancing issue, especially on the consoles due to the limitations in memory. Given all the other stuff in SR3, when you see it, I think it's an acceptable tradeoff.

Given the compliments repertoire includes an Amigo's salute, a Spaceball salute and a Wyld Stallyns pose, I'm prepared to overlook a whole lot of compromises and acceptable trade-offs. It's just a shame you can't choose more than one.

I hope the people responsible for those references get a huge bonus... [small](or fired if they also didn't include an Amigo's costume to go with the salute)[/small].

I can't wait to play the full game and see what other references from films of my childhood I can discover... honestly discovering references and Easter Eggs like this in a game like Saints Row is a gaming joy that is rarely surpassed.

This will be my first Saints Row game, so can anyone tell me whether the prequals tended to be 'better' on either the 360 or PS3?

I don't want to buy the game to find I've gotten the shittier version.

Yeah technically they're the same on both consoles. However, the PS3 version doesn't have trophies, so if you're someone who likes to get achievements/trophies then get the 360 version. If you're not too bothered then get it for either console.

The graphics are pretty shitty by todays standards to be honest. I mean I'm not a graphics whore or anything but they are downright hideous with the extreme amount of jaggies everywhere. They didn't put AA in the game at all. That being said, it's fucking awesome!

Nah, I don't plan on playing SR2. Just wanted to know if Volition pulled a Bethesda and made the PS3 version a worse version. Just so I know where I stand with SR3.

Well volition have specifically said they're doing the pc version in house this time, after Saint's Row 2 was outsourced and was a horrible mess on pc. It seems like they're taking the pc version more seriously this time round, and hopefully they've been scared enough into not cutting any corners.

So I was over on GameSpot and they are handing out codes the SR3 character creation demo (Xbox 360, dunno about other platforms). I'll go redeem the code in the morning and get to work, then eventually post a pic of my creation here, but in the meantime you guys should probably take a look too. This is exactly what I wanted, at least before the game comes out and it also allows you to upload your character and download other peoples' uploaded characters to use in your game too. Bravo Volition. Bravo.

Interesting, but one thing that was kind of fun in Saint's Row was gradually unlocking/collecting/buying outfits and such with the money you accumulated. Finding some of the more unique stores like the ones in the mall were a big deal for that reason, and "how do I find the mall" was a big question when SR 2 came out.

The Initiation Station makes me think that most of the clothing options are going to be present right there in character generation, meaning that you might pay for costume changes, but there isn't going to be much focus on obtaining unusual stuff.

I could be wrong though, we'll see what happens.

I'm betting that while there are lots of clothes to choose from, there's likely to be way more out there in Steelport. People have been complaining about crappy clothing selections or that awesome clothing from SR2 was cut out, but they're probably forgetting everything the clothing stores of Steelport have to offer.

None whatsoever, but you can upload your character online and brag about it so that's something i guess.

I downloaded it so i can have characters ready when the game comes so i don't have to spend first couple hours making my character but can jump straight into the game.
