Would you look at that, a thread that isn't about Skyrim. Sadly it's not a grand one or anything. I'm planning to get Saints Row 3 when my next paycheck drops, and I finally get some room in my gaming time.

Thing is, knowing the reputation of Saints Row 2's PC version I'm not quite sure what platform I want to get it on; my PC or my PS3. So I want to ask my fellow Escapees who might already have time for SR3 and play it on the PC; how is it's performance? Much better than SR2, or still kinda meh? Maybe someone with a lower or medium-end PC can comment on how well the game scales down?

And for the record, yes I know of Can You Run It, I pass it though oddly my videocard is only registered to have 751.9 MB instead of the 1GB it's supposed to have (got the Sapphire HD 6870). Quite odd.

And yes, I know there's an Advice forum, but I reckoned this not important enough for it, and it's about a game so Gaming Discussion it is. And now I'm off to play Skyrim.

It has to perform better than 2. 2 was an outsourced port and an absolute afterthought. 3 was developed at the same time with the console versions. I don't know for a fact but one has to assume it will be head and shoulders above the performance of 2.
Hopefully yes, but I'm still keeping my fingers crossed. I'm rather careful with buying games these days. However, seeing as it doesn't have a demo and I don't want to go through the trouble of pirating it, I'd thought I'd ask.

Well, I can run the game with everything but the ambient occlusion turned to the max perfectly fine and my PC is a few years old already (E8400, HD4850, 4GB RAM).

The thing is, though, I could run SR2 without any kind of issues, either, so maybe I'm just lucky as far as SR is concerned. Supposedly some people with AMD cards have performance issues.

Crap, I got one of those. I might go for the PS3 version then. Sure, less awesome graphics, but at least it'll run better.

According to IGN you get a free (downloadable) copy of SR2 if you buy SR3 on PS3 and redeem your online code. So if you don't have SR2 that might sweeten the deal.

If you don't already own SR2 (or you do on PC), then get it on PS3 because you will get a free PSN digital download of SR2.

I can't seem to run it on ultra whereas I absolutely should. However, it runs and looks perfectly fine on Medium.

Good enough for me.
