Hm, ist that the one where you take on a large amount of historical samurais in quite realistic battles. or the one with a weary short campaign that can be played in a large vareity of ways?

it's the one with realistic battles i think. it's one on one fighting plus training etc. you can do battles to win your opponents swords, and there are battles to the death which are mainly won with one hit kills/counters. but you could also do damage which severed arteries, and your opponent would bleed to death over time. it was just an awesome game.

Yeah that's the one I was talking about. It rocked, but I dont think anyone has ever made a game like it since. It's a one of a kind samurai-game.

Snip, Snapple and Snop... Actually, that didn't work quite as well as I wanted it to.
Dark-amon is right, it was a unique game to my knowledge. It was extremely good but I don't think it's a game that had a massive appeal, so it'll probably never get done again.
Or at least, not outside of Japan. Even then, it'd probably be a PS3 game rather then 360.

Orochi Warriors has samurai I believe. Other than that you're pretty stuffed, as I very very strongly do not recommend Oneechanbara.

If you don't mind branching out, you could try Sword of the Samurai for DOS. I wouldn't say it has less action, just...how to put it...

Okay, basically, the aim is to become the Shogun of all Japan, starting as a samurai and eventually becoming a daimyo. Action initially takes place in three forms; a sword dueling mini-game (written by Sid Meier), a top down action sequence that has you fight off foes with swords, spears and bows (with a gun or two thrown in at some point), and a tactical army scene which has you face your troops against an enemy force.

For some weird reason, though an emphasis is placed on the code of Bushido, dishonourable actions can be taken that may result in you having to perform seppuku if you're caught and fail.

Honestly the greatest samurai game ever has got to be samurai showdown. Its a traditional fighter that was originaly an arcade game in Japan. You can get the complete series on PS2. Freaking awesome. Most fun fighting game I have ever played.

Greatest game with samurai is Shogun: Total-goddamn-War. Lots of samurai, and guns to shoot them down.

Samurai Warriors NOW! Possibly one of the best hack-and-slash samurai games out, and if you like it.

However, if you don't mind going chinese rather than japanese, then Dynasty Warriors (5, preferably) is in my opinion a much better game than Samurai Warriors.

There's Afro Samurai (based on the anime), although it's probably not the same kind of style that you're talking about.
